Baylor men’s basketball has been named the No. 1 seed in the East Region by the NCAA Tournament committee on Sunday evening. The Bears are the No. 4 overall seed in the tournament.

Baylor will play its first two games of the NCAA Tournament in Fort Worth and is set to face No. 16 seed Norfolk St. in the round of 64 on Thursday. With a win over the Spartans, Baylor would face the winner of No. 8 seed North Carolina and No. 9 Marquette in the round of 32.

The Defending Big 12 and National Champions, Scott Drew’s program won its second consecutive league championship with a 14-4 record. Baylor dropped its quarterfinal matchup against Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament to enter the big dance with a 26-6 overall record.

Over the previous three season Baylor has amassed an 80-12 overall record and a 42-8 record in Big 12 play.

Ft Worth is close enough! We need to be there!

Oof this looks like a pretty brutal region

Hardest region by a country mile

The sports analysts said Baylor's is a very tough region, unlike Gonzaga.

I don't like the UNC potential match up in the second round. We did not get a break. I would rather have the #2 seed in this region where Kentucky is.

Root for Marquette, they're a much better match up

The sweet 16 appears to be our destination.

Brutal seeding.

Losing to Oklahoma cost us.

Yep. Some things broke right so we still got a number one seed, but this shows those "who cares we lost to a second division big 12 team in the quarterfinals and ain't it great we get extra rest" posters were wrong. If "good" North Carolina shows up in the second round we're probably toast.

Playing our games in Ft. Worth is huge. As for having to play UNC/Marquette in the 2nd Round…oh well, got to beat good teams to advance no matter who they put in our region.

North Carolina is the same seed as last year. If they could have beat Wisconsin last year we would have played them instead of Wisconsin..I respect UNC but they don't scare me

Plus we've got Shaka's number. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it isn't UNC in the 2nd round.

Serious question, what would have changed? Baylor taking KU's spot and vice versa?

To me, it looks like almost none of the conference tourneys had any impact on Selection Sunday aside from bubble teams

Wow. Great thread. Yall have a lot of quit in ya.

Find more cheer in a graveyard

Guess drew & co should just stay home and rest some more into the fall since Bu isnt a real one seed. Never even beaten KU or Zags

If we lose just think how rested we'll be in November.

Constructive criticism or sour grapes in a few of these comments. Folks, Baylor earned a #1 Seed, despite the injuries to Cryer and JTT. This is an amazing accomplishment. Let's enjoy this achievement for a few days, then see how many NCAA Tournament games Baylor can win.

I'm actually picking straight chalk in this region for round 1, which is absolutely nuts. But I really don't see any of the top seeds dropping their first game in the East.
