Baylor Softball Cannot Complete Sweep, Falls to Kansas 3-1
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Baylor softball dropped the series finale Sunday afternoon against Kansas, 3-1, at Arrocha Ballpark.
Baylor fell behind early in the matchup after Kansas took the 3-0 lead after the second inning.
Aliyah Binford successfully struck out three batters in the first, but a solo home run and a single brought three Jayhawks home.
Both teams went three-up, three-down in the third before the Bears plated their first and only run of the game in the top of the fourth. A leadoff double from Ana Watson and a follow-up single from Emily Hott put runners on second and third with nobody out. The Bears grounded into a double play next, but Watson was able to come home from third.
The Jayhawks got a runner on third in the bottom of the fifth, but a pop-up got the Bears out of the situation.
Holding Kansas scoreless the rest of the game, the Bears weren’t able to find the offense to push past the Jayhawks and fell 3-1.
