Boitan Wins Big 12 PotY while Tennis Team Cleans Up Postseason Awards

IRVING, Texas – No. 3 Baylor men’s tennis earned a multitude of All-Conference postseason awards, announced by the Big 12 on Thursday.

Headlining the awards announcement was Adrian Boitan, who earned Big 12 Player of the Year. The junior from Romania was also named a first-teamer for singles and individual season champion for court one. In addition, he and Paroulek were named individual season champions for doubles court three.

The All-Big 12 First Team singles players for Baylor were Boitan and senior Matias Soto, while Sven Lah and Paroulek were named to the Second Team.

The individual season champions for Baylor were Boitan, Paroulek on court five, and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi on court six.

For All-Big 12 doubles, Finn Bass and Lah were named to the First Team, while Soto and Grassi Mazzuchi were named to the Second Team. Soto and Grassi Mazzuchi were also named individual season champions for court two in doubles.

In the Big 12 regular season, Boitan went 4-0 on the singles courts, with Paroulek at 4-1 and Grassi Mazzuchi going 5-0. In doubles conference play, Grassi Mazzuchi and Soto were 5-0, while Boitan and Paroulek were 3-1.

For the spring as a whole through the Big 12 Championships in singles, Boitan was 17-1, Lah 15-6, Soto 13-8, Paroulek 13-2 and Grassi Mazzuchi 23-3. In doubles, Bass and Lah went 14-6, Grassi Mazzuchi and Soto were 19-5, while Boitan and Paroulek were 13-4.
