84 Days till Kickoff: Baylor's 84 Rush Attempts against North Carolina
As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
At the end of the 2015 Baylor football season, with no healthy quarterbacks for the bowl game, the Bears rushed the ball 84 times against North Carolina in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
Those 84 rush attempts were good for a program record 645 yards, as well as 49 points all from rushing touchdowns.
The total offense for the green and gold was 756 yards on 102 plays, thanks to 111 passing yards on 18 attempts by four different players.
Johnny Jefferson racked up a Baylor record 299 yards on the ground in 23 attempts. He was joined in the 100-yard-game club by Devin Chafin, who had 156 yards on 27 rushes. Terrence Williams, Lynx Hawthorne and Chris Johnson added 97, 65 and 36 yards respectively.
Somehow, 84 rushing attempts, zero healthy quarterbacks and an offense that loved to run fast did not quite get the Bears to a program record for attempts in a game. That record, as highlighted a week ago, is 91 rushes against SMU in 1993.
