Baylor Basketball
Dale Bonner: School, Last Year, and Prep for Canada
Conversation Notes
- Dale discusses his major at Baylor (communications) and what he wants to do after his playing days are over (something in business but he is in to shoes and clothes). I ask him to rate Jeremy Sochan and Kendall Brown’s fashion choices for the recent NBA draft.
- We discuss his plus/minus defensive stats, being thrown to the fire so to speak after injuries affected the backcourt last season and what his goals for shooting are this year.
- The adjustment from D2 to high major basketball. He says physicality was the biggest difference versus speed.
- We discuss Dale being the king of the 0.5. Making a decision in less than 0.5 seconds- shot, pass, drive. One of his coaches said he is as fast as Davion Mitchell baseline to baseline.
- Dale discusses his gains in the weight room. Said he has a challenge to gain weight but he has definitely gotten stronger since arriving at Baylor.
- We talk about the preparation for the Global JAM in Toronto. Dale discusses some of the new guys on the team and how they are jelling and the level of competition that they will be playing.
- He answers message board questions.
