63 Days till Kickoff: Baylor’s #63 Grant Miller
As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
Grant Miller is a sixth-year senior offensive lineman from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Miller grad-transferred from Vanderbilt to Baylor prior to the 2021 season. The 6’4 330 lb right guard will be one of four seniors on the offensive line, joining Connor Galvin, Jacob Gall, and Khalil Keith. While at Baylor, Miller made the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2021 and is pursuing a master’s degree in sports pedagogy.
In 2021, the Florida native made his BU debut against Texas State and started all 14 games of the season at right guard. The Bears’ offensive line was one of the weakest parts of the team at the conclusion of the 2020 season, and Miller’s transfer to Baylor brought toughness and experience to the right side of the offensive line this past season.
When Miller grad-transferred to Baylor, our own Grayson Grundhoefer had this to say about Miller, “technique-wise, he does a good job engaging as a blocker while also getting up to the second level quickly. Miller does a very nice job getting to his block quickly after snapping the football and painting good balance to keep himself in front of defenders.”
Prior to Baylor, Miller spent four seasons at Vanderbilt from 2017-2020. He played in 31 career games and started 16 of those. Miller worked with an offense that increased its total offensive yards per game, passing guards per game, passing yards per completion, passing yards per attempt, and third-down conversion percentage from 2019 to 2020.
At St. Aquinas in Florida, Miller was a consensus three-star prospect. He anchored an offensive line for a 13-2 state title-winning team. He registered 28 knockdowns and 11 pancake blocks and only allowed one sack as a senior. He was honored with First-Team All-State and Miami Herald All-Area in 2016. Despite some interest from Baylor, Miller committed to Vanderbilt.
Grant Miller’s father, Fred, was a four-year letterman at Baylor from 1992-95 and a three-time All-Southwest Conference honoree. Fred Miller was a fifth-round draft pick by the St. Louis Rams, where he started as an offensive tackle for more than a decade in the NFL.
