Adam Flagler on Summer Work, Goals and Possibilities

Ashley Hodge sat down with Baylor point guard Adam Flagler on Monday to talk about his summer and the outlook of the team heading into the 2022-23 season.

Notes:

  • He spent the summer working out with Jared Butler, Freddie Gillespie, and many other professional basketball players.
  • He’s put on some muscle this summer, and has been learning ways to improve coming off of ball screens, how to not over dribble too much, and how to manage his stamina on the court.
  • He was “sick” to be away for the summer, but he feels like he was rewarded for taking that risk and it will pay off this year despite missing out on some team activities.
  • The GLOBL JAM was very beneficial on and off the court in his eyes.
  • There are similarities between the championship team and this year’s team, but there is room to grow in that respect and each team is it's own.
  • Playing with JOY is key in so many ways to success for the program on and off the court.
  • Can NIL be a distraction? There were worries initially when NIL started, but the way the program has been built and he sees playing at Baylor as just as much of a privilege if not more than to be able to earn money while playing basketball in college.
  • His goal right now is to get to know the younger guys better so they can develop trust and deeper personal relationships.
  • Plus so much more in the video!

I like his comment about approaching off the court "JOY" in their every day lives is just as important then on the court
