Week 10
Baylor 24 at Oklahoma 27
The Bears travel to Norman in the biggest game of the season on the Big 12 slate. Both teams drive down the field and score early on as the score is 7-7 following a Ben Sims and Eric Gray touchdown. The teams exchange field goals to make it 10-10 before Theo Wease catches a touchdown pass from Dillon Gabriel for 33 yards, 17-10 Sooners at the half. Blake Shapen throws an interception and the Sooners add a field goal to make it 20-10. Shapen responds with a 10-play drive capped by a touchdown pass to Armani Winfield, 20-17. The Sooners get a kick return for a touchdown by Eric Gray, 27-17. Shapen finds Javon Gipson for a 40-yard touchdown with 10 minutes left in the game to make it 27-24. Both teams get the ball but are stopped. Baylor gets another stop thanks to a sack by Gabe Hall. Shapen gets the ball back down by 3 with 5 minutes left but he is picked off by Billy Bowman. Oklahoma wins.
Oklahoma State 36 at Kansas 27
The Jayhawks keep this one closer than expected but the Cowboys are ultimately the better team with a more consistent defense and offense. Spencer Sanders forces some throws but remains under control enough to move the ball efficiently. The Jayhawks find some success on offense but it isn’t enough.
West Virginia 17 at Iowa State 21
Absolute slugfest of a game which is a ferry from last years high scoring matchup in Morgantown. Both defenses shut down the run game and both quarterbacks struggle which leads to a low scoring, grind it out kind of game. Each team turns it over twice, gives up 5+ sacks, and rushes for less than 125 yards.
Texas 17 at Kansas State 31
The Longhorns can’t get any movement up front to run the football while the Wildcats do whatever they want on the offensive side. The Wildcats dominate time of possession, out gain Texas 220-100 on the ground, and win the turnover battle 3-1. This game is not close as Kansas State seems to be hitting their stride at this point in the season.
Texas Tech 48 at TCU 45
One of the highest scoring games of the season takes place in Fort Worth this season as Chandler Morris and Tyler Shough combine for 800 yards passing and eight touchdowns. TCU turns it over two more times than the Red Raiders which ultimately leads to a massive win for Joey McGuire and company.
Week 11
Oklahoma 20 at West Virginia 23
The Sooners come into this one following the biggest win of the season and lay an egg in freezing conditions in Morgantown. The offense can’t run the ball and the passing attack goes sideways in the cold. JT Daniels makes enough throws especially late to get the Mountaineers another massive home win. Huge upset that guarantees Neal Brown will keep his job.
Kansas State 20 at Baylor 34
Baylor beat the Wildcats handedly on the road with a healthy Skylar Thompson so there is no reason to think it won’t be more of the same in Waco. Blake Shapen hits on a few explosive plays in the passing game as he totals 300 yards of offense. Taye McWilliams runs for 100 yards and a score to lead the ground attack. Adrian Martinez turns it over twice and is sacked four times. Deuce Vaughn scores twice and has a great game but Dave Aranda doesn’t allow anyone else to beat them. Bears cruise.
Iowa State 20 at Oklahoma State 34
Oklahoma State is looking to get payback from the loss they suffered in Ames a season ago. They get that payback as they swarm Hunter Dekkers sacking him seven times and forcing three turnovers. The Cowboys offense does enough to compliment a dominant defensive performance here. The Cyclones just can’t get anything going on the offensive side, the score looks closer than the game actually is.
Kansas 38 at Texas Tech 41
Shoot out in Lubbock! The Red Raiders are on a bit of a roll and this offense is the reason why. Tyler Shough throws for another 400 and five touchdowns. On the flip side Devin Neal rushes for 200 and three scores. Tech creates a couple more explosive plays and are able to pull away and keep the lead just barely.
TCU 24 at Texas 37
The Longhorns have been through an up and down season, that train continues. The Longhorns have a special teams and defensive touchdown in this game. The defense gets after Chandler Morris a couple times and makes things hard for the Horned Frogs offense in general. Quinn Ewers hits on a couple big plays and Bijan Robinson rumbles to 150 yards and two scores.
