Quotes of the Week

Senior Offensive Lineman Connor Galvin

"We know it's going to be loud, we know it's going to be rowdy. We know it's going to be one of those games where it's going to be down to the last play. That's just how Iowa State is, a lot of respect for them. So, it's just how we practice vs. how they practice."

Sophomore Linebacker Brooks Miller

"It's just so early. We're going to become so much better. Like in December, we're going to look back now and be like, wow, how were we running it that way, and now we're running it like this."

Head Coach Dave Aranda

"I just feel that, as far as the view of who we want to be and consistently look like, I'd say Iowa State, is that in a lot of ways. They don't beat themselves, they are efficient with all their movements, and kind of what they do."

Analysis of the Week

SicEm365 Analyst Sam Bradshaw

You have to take away Iowa State’s running game and Xavier Hutchinson. I think Baylor can rely on their front five to limit the run effectively as they’ve done to virtually everyone over the last year. This should get some additional help on wherever Hutchinson is. Additionally, Dekkers hasn’t seen anyone good blitz him with much regularity so there is certainly a place in the game plan for creepers and simulated pressures to get after the kid and make the new guy prove he won’t cough up the ball. He lost a ton of accuracy when Ohio got pressure on him so he may not handle pressure all that well yet.

However, my bigger takeaway is BU is going to have to do better not busting assignments. Last year Iowa State had several wide-open passes to the Tight Ends and Running Backs that Baylor simply didn’t have anyone covering.
