Ten Things That Stood Out From Baylor Visiting Oklahoma
Baylor traveled to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the Sooners on Saturday with both teams looking to become bowl eligible and Baylor looking to maintain a chance for repeating as Big 12 Champions. Here are at least ten thoughts from the game.
- Oklahoma trying to intimidate the Bears coming onto the field is a new look
- The defense looks to have decided to play West Virginia in the first drive with missed tackles and losing contain. Need those items cleaned up going forward or it will be a high score on the wrong side of the ledger
- Connor Galvin with the block into the cheerleader section is great to see as the running game was dominant on the opening drive
- Jordan Nabors is going to be electric for two more years before he declares for the NFL Draft and it is awfully quiet in Norman. I’m hearing Baylor staff on the field microphone.
- Jekyll and Hyde defense. Just not sure what is going on in the secondary with assignments and understanding of coverages.
- And then Devin Lemear goes and totally redeems the secondary
- If you can’t trust John Mayers, who can you trust? Great to see him bounce back from the Covid season
- Great stop on the 4th and 1 attempt by the defensive line getting surge and tripping up the wildcat attempt. If BU can convert on offense and make it a two possession game you have to like the Bears’ chances
- Every Baylor fan should be crying sports tears seeing Craig Williams breaking out in this game after years of injury adversity. So many great stories of players like Sqwirl and Gavin Holmes making a huge impact.
- You can’t play dirty or retaliate on the road or you get the showers.
- And there is the horrible turnover we have come to expect each game
- Baylor does what it needs to do on offense and drives the length of the field and scores by Richard Reese driving the ball in and taking a solid 4 minutes off the clock. And there is Jack on the sidelines in his SicEm365 polo so it’ll show up in Views From Norman.
- Great stop by the defense and sack by Garmon Randolph and Gabe Hall
- Baylor self destructs on offense with a needless penalty and OU gets the momentum back due to another penalty on Baylor. Penalties are killers and equalizers on the road
- Baylor penalties conitnue to be an issue in 2022.
- Thunders and lightnings are working over the OU defense and you can see the pep in Qualan Jones step when he sees the end zone.
- Baylor has 4::05 to go in the game to seal the second victory in Norman with three to four first downs to run out the clock or just score again to keep it a two possession game
- Clutch throw by Blake Shapen and catch by Hal Presley for the needed first down to keep the clock running
- A mercy kneeling by Sqwirl
- BEARS WIN!
- Bowl eligible
- Stilli in the hunt for a Big 12 title
