Ten Things That Stood Out Against Kansas State
Baylor played Kansas State in front of a blackout crowd to stay in contention for the Big 12 title. Here are at least ten thoughts during the game while posted up inside a Vegas Casino.
- FS1 has too many commercials for a game starting at 6pm. I get it, gotta pay for the new contract, but some of these are repeated from Fox itself, so the bills aren’t being completely paid by advertisers. Also, fun to hear cheers for other teams with all the TVs showing different games. I have no volume on the game, so I have no clue who these guys are on the call as FS1 apparently doesn’t want us to know. Pretty sure one is the former Oregon HC.
- Blackout looks great on TV. Seems a few seats in the upper deck where KSU fans are to sit are empty. Surprising as they usually travel well.
- KSU is methodical as always and shorten games. First drive has gone 42 yards in 6+ minutes
- Siaki Ika is down and it looks like he’s gotten the breath knocked out of him. Maybe a lower leg inury as he limps off. And Baylor brings the heat to get off the field.
- Tipped passes are the bain of a quarterbacks existence
- This is an incredibly physical game with Adrian Martinez now down after a quarterback sneak for short yardage. The drinks are flowing and a Horned Frog has sat down next to me at the bar. He’s happy I’m cheering against Texas. He said he can’t watch 61-58 all the way through.
- Will Howard brings a ton of different issues for Baylor’s defense with his ability to pass with more efficiency and stronger arm. Preparing for two QBs is much more difficult, but adjustments will have to be made.
- Sinnot is killing the secondary and now scores by splitting Matt Jones and Christian Morgan in coverage
- No clue what the offense is trying to do on this second series besides give the ball back to Kansas State
- Kansas State is contolling the clock and line of scrimmage on offense so far. Baylor needs to get a score and then get the lead when they receive the kickoff in the second half.
- This is a half to forget on offense and it reminds me of the BYU game with lackluster execution and play calling being tentative
- If you can’t trust John Mayers, who can you trust?
- Merciful, merciful halftime. Please bring adjustments to the defense and offense if it isn’t too late...
- Adjustments were made, but execution is still off on offense. Defense with a quick 3 and out.
- I’m not sure what Blake Shapen is seeing on the read option to continue to keep the ball.
- I’m giong to eat.
- Team is what it is at this point and needs leadership in key areas on defense and offense.
- 3rd Quarter and this game is done.
- Everybody ready for the Texas Bowl or the First Responder Bowl Tailgate?
