Baylor Basketball’s Flagler Wins Big 12 Player of the Week

WACO, Texas – Baylor senior guard Adam Flagler picked up Big 12 Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The Duluth, GA., native, got off to a blistering start to the season, leading the conference in field-goal percentage (.650) and three-point field-goal percentage (.667) in a pair of BU wins over Mississippi Valley State and Norfolk State. Additionally, Flagler is tied for the conference lead in three-pointers made (8) with freshman teammate Keyonte George and ranks third in assists per game (6.5).

Flagler had back-to-back games with 4+ three-pointers for the second time in his career, contributing to his 44% clip from 3-point range in his last 24 games (66-of-149), and has scored in double figures in 24 of his previous 26 games.

His season started with a stat-sheet stuffer against Mississippi Valley State, where he recorded 21 points, eight assists and a pair of steals, while going 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. His eight assists were his most since he had a career-high 11 against Northwestern State in December 2021.

The senior notched 18 points and five assists against Norfolk State, while playing a team-high 34 minutes. With four more three-pointers made against the Spartans, Flagler claimed a share of the conference lead in three-pointers made (8).

The award is his second Big 12 weekly award of his career, after he took home player of the week honors on January 10, 2022.

Flagler and the Bears will return to action on Monday night at home against Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. John Morris and King McClure will have the call on ESPN+. BU will then leave home for the first time for the Continental Tire Main Event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Bears will open the tournament against No. 18 Virginia before taking on either No. 23 Illinois or No. 8 UCLA.
