Baylor signs Oklahoma State transfer RB Dominic Richardson

Baylor has received a commitment and signed Oklahoma State transfer running back Dominic Richardson. Richardson took an official visit to Baylor last week.

The 6-foot-0, 210-pound prospect played in four games as a true freshman in 2020 and retained his redshirt. He will have two years of eligibility remaining to play for the Bears.

During the 2022 season at Oklahoma State, Richardson rushed for 543 yards and eight touchdowns to go along with 220 receiving yards in nine games played. In three seasons for the Cowboys, Richardson complied 1,425 yards and 15 touchdowns on 302 touches.

Richardson had a breakout senior season at Oklahoma City (OK) Bishop McGuinness High School, as he posted 2,135 yards and 26 touchdowns on just 189 carries. This led to him becoming a consensus three-star prospect while gaining offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Missouri, among others.

Richardson signed with TCU during the Early Signing Period but was released from his scholarship before the season. He then went on to enroll at Oklahoma State in August.

Baylor dealt with injuries and depth concerns all year at the running back position after the departure of Abram Smith and Trestan Ebner the year prior. The addition of Richardson will add stability to the running back room while also giving the roster more of a bruising running back who fits the RVO style of offense very well.

Anyone else find it funny that all of the highlights are against us?

So how did this go down? I thought it was dead period from Dec 19 to Jan 12.
Is it because he visited before the dead period ?

Over stacked running back room, who hits the portal first, and when?

I'm guessing that the coaches know some are gone already. Doubt Q Jones, C Williams will be here next season.

Nice pickup. I think he fits our style.

Jordan Jenkins might be shopping around. Not enough playing time last season so is he red shirtable?

Another nice pick up. Talented RB room now with Reese and the freshman back who fits our scheme very well along with the OK st transfer. Think the injury thing with McWilliams foreshadows a transfer.. Guessing here and Squirl will move on. So probably a 3 back attack with Reese, Jones, and this transfer.

I was wondering this as well also in regard to the BYU lineman. Maybe the recruit can reach out and initiate the discussion.

I hope CDA and team are making their cellphone numbers available to key prospects.

"While NCAA Division 1 programs are prohibited from conducting any in-person recruiting, D1 college coaches can still contact student-athletes via digital forms of communication during the dead period. In this video, we debunk common misconceptions around the NCAA recruiting dead period and contact rules."

The sophomore RB for Franklin looked better than Washington in the title game.

He'd throw 5 less INTs per season if he came to us

I'm only counting Reese. Squirl plays hard but hurt often. Jones has size but doesn't run hard. Guessing Richardson will get plenty of reps early

Do we need more RBs?

Beginning to think you don't know the game of football. "Jones has size but doesn't run hard". Really? Jones is the only back in our stable that runs with any level of physicality, he should have received more reps this year.

The recruiting contact (in-person visits, if there were any) and offer likely came before the 19th. Players can announce commitments whenever they want. The dead period is just in relation to contact.

Show me the stats to prove it. He averages nearly the same amount of yards as the others. Jones 5 ypc, Reese 4.9 and Squirl 5.5 ypc. The most damning stats 3 and short when we rather run Squirl than Jones. Like I said has the size but not the physicality
