Iowa State (10-2; 1-0) demolishes Baylor (10-3; 0-1) to start Big12 play. The Cyclones were down 29-20 with 6 minutes to go in the 1st half but then outscored the Bears 57-33 the rest of the way. Next up for the Bears is a home match-up against TCU (12-1; 1-0) Wednesday Jan 4th
Positives
- Jalen Bridges gave us a good effort on both sides of the ball. He ends up with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. I liked the poise he played with.
- Adam Flagler had a terriffic first half- 18 points and also took a charge in transition.
- Keyonte George did some good things in the second half, scoring 15 after intermission.
Needs Work
- Mental toughness. The Bears take a 29-20 lead and came out matching Iowa State’s energy and hustle. The last 25 minutes of the game, they just wilted on both ends of the court. Iowa State who was #123 in offensive efficiency coming into the game, got whatever great look they wanted on offense. And the Bears were not efficient on the offensive end.
- Turnovers were a problem again. 19 turnovers and 7 assists. Woof!
- Way too many open looks from 3 for Caleb Grill. The film study will be brutal.
- Health, this team needs a healthy LJ Cryer and Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua to play up to its potential.
