Not just 4 guards, but *THESE* 4 guards. It cannot be overstated the downgrade defensively from KB to Cryer in the starting lineup. Flagler tries and is smart, but lacks length and is below average defensively. Keyonte has his good moments but lacks consistent intensity on that end, while Cryer and Love are truly awful defenders no way to sugarcoat it. Compounding the situation is when opposing guards blow by our matador perimeter defense, our inside players are a defensive liability as well. Massive dropoff from MM / Sochan to Bridges / Lohner. Thamba is several steps slow and has regressed considerably. Josh O has huge upside but is still learning through freshman mistakes and is foul prone. So when our perimeter D gets burned over and over again, our inside guys are left even more vulnerable to picking up cheap fouls or giving up weak-side rebounds when out of position to help or to help the helper. Really looking forward to what Ja'Kobe Walter will bring next year, he is an elite perimeter defender who will stop teams from penetrating at will.bear2be2 said:If you think our defense is bad now, just wait until we trot four guards out there.True Grit said:
The roster has so many flaws. I think Drew needs to start Ojianwuna over Thamba and even experiment with a four guard line-up.
