Baylor Men’s Basketball team has been named the No. 3 seed in the South Region by the NCAA Tournament selection committee on Sunday evening. The Bears are the No. 9 overall seed in the tournament. The No. 1 seed in the region is the No. 1 overall team Alabama.

Baylor will play its first two games of the NCAA Tournament in Denver, Colorado, and is set to face No. 14 seed UC Santa Barbara in the round of 64 on Friday. That game will tip off at 12:30 PM CST on TNT. With a win over the Gauchos, Baylor would face the winner of No. 6 seed Creighton and No. 11 North Carolina State in the round of 32.

After being picked as the favorite to win the Big 12 in the preseason, the Bears finished fourth in the conference and two games behind regular-season champion Kansas. Baylor dropped its quarterfinal matchup against Iowa State in the Big 12 tournament to enter the big dance with a 22-10 overall record.

Over the last four seasons, Baylor has amassed a 103-23 overall record and a 53-15 record in Big 12 play.

Anyone know the style of play for UCSB, Creighton, and NC State? That will tell us a lot about the Bears chances of reaching the Sweet 16.

Been hearing for some time that Creighton would be a tough matchup for the Bears.

UCSB is a top 30 2pt% shooting team while we're a sub 300 2pt% defense.

In terms of tempo, both teams are slower-paced, so it won't be a big tempo swing. Where this game gets interesting is the fact that we are practically the same (solid offense, relatively bad defense.)

I do NOT like the Creighton/NC State matchup we got. Both teams match up decent against us, especially on defense.

Should we advance and play Creighton, I probably would not watch that game

Creighton would be a tough matchup but they're jekyl/Hyde have been all season. I'd much rather take our chances vs Nc St

This was the headline in the sports section of the Waco Paper this morning:

"Bears excited for fresh NCAA start"

One would hope they are more than just excited--what team is not?
