Why One-and-Dones Work in The Transfer Portal Era, Part One

Kansas last season and Connecticut this year aren’t bad teams. But the 2022 Jayhawks were probably the eighth-best Bill Self team. And as great as Connecticut has been lately — and even underseeded — the Huskies had real flaws during a 2-6 stretch. 

The reality is that college basketball’s top teams aren’t quite as good as they were over the last several years. This year is the first Final Four without a No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 seed.
