The Case for Baylor Basketball Staying the Course

It’s the basketball offseason, so it’s time to offer some takes. While I’m not sure where exactly I fall on this question, I think it’s helpful to lay out the case. I’ll do a part two where I lay out the opposite case on this question. 

The doom and gloom over last year’s Baylor team has gotten out of control. The Bears finished the regular season ranked No. 9 by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. Baylor knocked off Kansas and Texas.

After you win a natty, the expectations from fans become really high. It's hard to hold them in check.

And last year's team wasn't ever as good as its ranking. We had some really good wins, but that was always a frustratingly flawed team. I told everyone who would listen that we were going down in the first weekend. It wasn't a surprise.

There's nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. And when you reach the level our program has, there's nothing wrong with being disappointed by first-weekend exits. You'd better believe every other top-15 program is.
