Report: Adam Flagler Decides to Stay in NBA Draft, Leave Baylor

WACO, Texas – Baylor senior point guard Adam Flagler has decided to remain in the NBA Draft per Jeff Goodman on Twitter.

After four years in Waco, Flagler has chosen to end the chapter that was his decorated collegiate career. The unanimous first-team All-Big 12 guard was the leader of the Bears’ attack for the last two seasons after being the first guard off the bench during the 2021 National Championship run.

Through his time at Baylor University, Flagler helped the Bears win back-to-back Big 12 championships as well as earning multiple weekly conference honors and national watchlist selections.

Flagler averaged 15.6 points, 4.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.5 made threes in 33.7 minutes per game this past season as he assumed full point guard responsibilities for the Bears. He hit 42.6% of his shots from the field, 40% from three and 79% from the free throw line. Flagler’s advanced shooting numbers were 52.8% effective field goal percentage and 56.2% true shooting percentage. 

Flagler started his collegiate career at Presbyterian College where he was named the Big South’s 2018-19 Freshman of the Year.

He is projected to be a late second-round pick or an undrafted free agent.

Baylor will now look to add a starting point guard in the transfer portal. Scott Drew and staff are still waiting on Jalen Bridges’ NBA Draft decision as well. Right now, Dantwan Grimes and Miro Little look to be the point guard options with Langston Love and Jayden Nunn at the two guard.

The three at the half against Wisconsin and the three off the Mark Vital block against Gonzaga were absolute daggers to the hearts of the Badgers and the Zags.

Both shots just absolutely demoralized the opponents. IYKYK just how crushing those shots were. Wisconsin had whittled it down to 10 and looked like they had a little life heading into the half. Mitchell raced the inbounds pass up the sideline. Pass ahead to Flagler who just buries the three at the halftime buzzer.

Corey Kisspert uses a high screen to drive left. Vital switches and cleanly blocks a weak floater from behind, Flagler collects in the deep corner, outlets ahead to Butler. Butler races ahead, Gonzaga FINALLY gets back on the break with three guys in the paint. Butler slows down, lets the traffic wash through and finds a trailing Flagler who releases a perfect shot right side free throw line extended just ahead of the outstretched fingers of Drew Timme who's trying to get back in the play. Lead back up to 16 with about 12 to play. Gonzaga calls a TO. Davion is going crazy on the sidelines, the Gonzaga players have their heads down heading back to the huddle, and I'm texting my buddies that the game was over and they should go ahead pick out championship swag.

Just perfect team execution, with a flawless Flagler finishing on both plays. My 10 year old still goes out in the driveway and says "Adam Flagler" as he tries to copy Flagler's sweet form.

That sequence you describe is my favorite all-time sequence for any Baylor sport. Forever etched in my mind.

Agreed but there are so many others that just about as good: RGIII's final scoring drive vs OU in 2011, the Comeback vs TCU in 2014, The final 30 seconds or so of WBB vs UConn in Waco in January 2019, MBB key possessions vs Auburn in 2021 (with excellent ball movement & rebounding to keep a possession alive), some of the great dunks of Mayer & Vital their last years at Baylor, Chloe Jackson's big time scores vs ND in 2019, Grayland Arnold's pick vs OU in 2019, MaCio Teague lighting up Texas Tech on Senior Night in 2021, the 2013 win over Texas to close out FC (ice fog), Butler lighting up Kansas in Lawrence in 2020, MaCio Teague doing the same (but not as much), Freddie Gillespie's dunk from the lob in that game, the Sugar Bowl pick six for 96 yards, etc.

I was fortunate to be at several of those games but not all.
