Tennessee Transfer Olivier Nkamhoua Expected to Visit Baylor This Weekend

Tennessee transfer forward Olivier Nkamhoua is generating significant interest from top college basketball programs, including Baylor. He is expected to take an official visit to Waco this weekend.

Nkamhoua, a native of Helsinki, Finland, has already taken official visits to West Virginia, Kansas State, and is currently on one at Michigan. He recently withdrew from the NBA Draft, indicating his intention to continue playing at the collegiate level.

During the previous season, Nkamhoua showcased his skills in all 36 games for the Tennessee Vols, making noteworthy contributions. He averaged 10.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 25.3 minutes per game.

Baylor is among the interested parties closely monitoring Nkamhoua's recruitment. The Bears, who are awaiting Jalen Bridges' decision on whether to return or pursue overseas opportunities, are looking to secure elite options to bolster their roster. Nkamhoua's official visit to Baylor this weekend indicates the program's serious consideration of the talented Finnish prospect as a potential addition to their team.

Joe Tipton and others have reported this information as well.

Wondering if he has played with Miro. I don't assume everyone from Finland knows everyone from Finland, but...

For those in the know, would he be an upgrade over Bridges? I think I watched one Tennessee game and the offense was so brutally bad I changed the channel for another game.

Defensively yes and it's not even close. Offensively I'll leave that up to someone else to conclude. But he does bring a toughness we sorely missed

Bigger size and wingspan over Jalen. 6 foot 9 and 235lbs and an active defender. I wish we could get him without having to wait for Jaylen. He's a very sturdy man, and I think you would see that right away playing against some of the 18 to 20 year old boys.

Jalen a very underrated defender IMO, was our best defender last year. Potential to be an NBA 3 and D wing. That said this kid also fits exactly what we need. Could we have them both ?!

I'd say Flagler was a better defender than Bridges. If your comparing him to Cryer, Thamba, and George defensively that doesn't make him a good defender. He wasn't close to the forwards we've had the last few years defensively.

On a different note I think the staff has waited for Bridges and now the wait is over. We will offer a talented option.

If this kid tells the staff he's ready to commit you give him the spot. You can't put all your eggs in the Bridges basket.

To each his own opinion, but I viewed Flagler as very average defensively. Bridges well above average. Very adept at deflections especially blocks. Am hoping we have room for both Bridges and the Tennessee transfer but my mind is boggled with all the movement and how many schollies we have available.

So, this one is interesting. Mayer wouldn't make up his mind last year, so the coaching staff made it up for him by bringing in Bridges. Roll the clock forward and now I wonder if a similar scenario is playing out this year where the staff is telling Bridges to either get on board, or we're moving forward with someone else instead of waiting. Very interesting.

Hmmm indeed

Agreed, we can't have any one guy stop the train at the station, got to keep it going. Jump on or get left behind. Bridges has limited options as he can't transfer as a grad student, and if he goes to another school he has to sit. It's basically Baylor or Euro/Aussie ball. Not a bad option, but won't get quite the visibility unless he is putting up monster numbers.

I think he would fit right into our roster for an additional reason and that's because he has a name that you need to practice pronouncing at least 20 times before you try to do it in public.

Yeah, I'm thinking the radio broadcast could be problematic, particularly if he, Jonathan and Josh are on the court at the same time.

Bridges was our best defender last year. He wasn't great but it speaks to how bad the defense was. Bridges was a solid defender for us. Flag is a decent help defender and possibly avg to slightly below avg man up guy. Overall avg defender that shows awareness and uses what he has.

Again showed awareness and consistent effort on D but was just okay and often gassed out from offensive load.

Yeah Flagler definitely wore down. toward the end of conference play. Next year with multiple guys who can handle the ball and initiate offense, they should have more energy defensively and should be fresher down the stretch
