WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball head coach Nicki Collen announced the addition of Sadie Edwards to the coaching staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator on Wednesday.
“We are excited to welcome Sadie to the Baylor family,” Collen said. “As I was doing my due diligence in hiring this position, Sadie’s name just kept coming up as a rising star in this profession. She has unique experience even though she has only been in coaching for a short time both collegiately and professionally which will allow her to speak our language from day one. Sadie has spent considerable time doing player development at each stop and thrives in helping players grow their skills. She will lead our recruiting efforts and her passion and authenticity for people and basketball make her a great fit for Baylor University and our servant mission.”
Edwards brings a multitude of collegiate and professional women’s basketball experience to the Bears, most recently serving as an assistant coach with the Oregon Ducks for the 2022-23 season. Prior to arriving in Eugene, Edwards spent the 2022 WNBA season as basketball operations manager for the New York Liberty.
A 2018 graduate of USC, Edwards was a standout guard from 2015-18 starting 72 of 82 games while averaging 11.1 points on 42.5 percent shooting. As a senior, she started all 30 games for the Trojans and averaged 12.9 points per contest.
Edwards, a native of Meriden, Conn., received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from USC. She joined the Indiana coaching staff as a graduate assistant for two seasons following graduation at USC, helping the Hoosiers go a combined 46-12 with an appearance in the 2021 NCAA Elite Eight. She then spent time as an assistant coach at Lamar before joining the Liberty.
“I am thrilled to join the staff at Baylor,” Edwards said. “It is a great honor to be a part of one of the most historic programs in women’s college basketball history. Coach Collen has an outstanding track record for success and I look forward to helping her continue the winning tradition at Baylor.”
