Baylor should really be gunning for a shut out, anything more than 3 points given up will be embarrassing.
SicEm365 Staff Predictions for Baylor's Matchup against LIU
The SicEm365 Staff gives their predictions for Baylor’s matchup against Long Island University. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at McLane Stadium and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Colt Barber — Baylor 49, LIU 7
A game like this is for getting healthy leading into conference play. Baylor getting reps for the first time from Jerrell Boykins is big, but not losing anyone else is just as important. If this game is ever in doubt, that’s not a good sign.
Brian Ethridge — Baylor 52, LIU 10
Get the game over with no injuries, and get ready for Texas.
Ashley Hodge — Baylor 55, LIU 10
A team hungry for a win versus an overmatched team.
David Smoak — Baylor 52, LIU 12
I can’t remember the last time I was asked to predict Baylor football playing someone like Long Island and pause to wonder if it will be an absolute blowout (and it damn sure needs to be) or somehow, it’s just an ugly game and McLane Stadium slides into the Brazos River.
Paul Catalina — Baylor 41, LIU 14
We don’t learn that much this week since Baylor should run through LIU like tissue paper. But maybe this can build some continuity and rally the emotions of the team because any win when you are lost in a six-game skid is welcomed.
Craig Smoak — Baylor 52, LIU 6
It’s been a long time since this program has won a game and even longer since they’ve won at home. That all changes for the better on Saturday as both streaks get snapped in a lopsided victory and necessary reset before the launch of Big 12 play.
Travis Roeder — Baylor 49, LIU 10
Everybody have a good time!!
Sam Bradshaw — Baylor 56, LIU 10
These games are the toughest to predict score-wise. You know BU should win easily, but the exact numbers depend more on how much a team pours it on versus how much they keep things conservative, so other teams cannot film study it all that well. LIU is aggressive schematically but simply doesn’t match up and BU gets the W.
Kendall Kaut — Baylor 45, LIU 7
Baylor should boat race an awful opponent. Can’t blame Baylor for LA Tech abandoning this game. Can’t get excited for Baylor having to play a New York island.
Grayson Grundhoefer — Baylor 52, LIU 10
LIU is terrible, and Baylor should be very motivated to get the first win of the season in convincing fashion. I am hoping to see a strong performance on the ground along with some play-action shots deep which has been missing so far this season. This game is about getting better and building confidence as we all know what awaits next week for the Bears.
Jack Mackenzie — Baylor 38, LIU 10
Just win. I don’t know what to expect other than that result. A win. Score more points than the other guys. I will have serious questions about the team regardless of what is on the field so just get the dub and show improvements in a few places.
Garrett Ross — Baylor 42, LIU 6
If Baylor can’t get a win this week, then things are worse than they appear — which is hard to fathom. I wouldn’t be surprised if RJ Martinez gets some reps in this one, especially if Sawyer Robertson is still nursing an ankle injury.
Emory Winter — Baylor 45, LIU 6
The road to .500 has to start somewhere. Baylor needs to look sharp before Texas rolls into town.
Levi Caraway — Baylor 41, LIU 13
This week won’t answer any questions about the team that still remain. Hopefully, everyone will stay healthy, and preparation for Texas will begin shortly after.
