Love Waz hope he puts it together... what did he get suspended for?
Baylor Football
Safety, Chance Waz (5-11, 180) | Pflugerville (TX) Hendrickson
— The biggest reason I have Waz list as the highest safety on the list because of the experience he has had dating back to his freshman season and even earned All-Big 12 recognition as a sophomore in 2015. He has played in 35 career games and made 19 career starts.
— Waz could end up being one of the biggest beneficiaries of the new defensive scheme brought to Waco by Phil Snow. In a defense that brings more structure, Waz's experience on the field should allow him to think freely compared to other, less experienced players.
— He is currently listed as a back up to fellow senior Taion Sells who Waz has a very comparable skillset to. He is a little undersized, but his mindset is to be physical when given the opportunity. That can be a good or bad thing in regards to his health on the season.
— This is one player that I am pulling heavily for in his senior season. After being asked to play as a true freshman in 2014, Waz totaled 70 tackles and defended three passes as a sophomore in 2015 in 11 starts. His career looked to be heading in a very positive direction before 2016 which saw some struggles including a suspension to begin his junior season.
— If nothing more, Waz seems to have bought into the new philosophy in Waco and should have a positive impact on a team that is, as Matt Rhule described, searching for leaders. But I am expecting more from the senior who showed a lot of promise during his All-Big 12 season in 2015.
