Takeaways

  1.   Offense is tremendous.  #1 in KenPom.  Hard to go higher than #1.
    • Off night and they put up 91 points
    • 1.34 points per possession
  2.   Defensively we were asking for improvement.  The Bears had much better effort.
    • Most of Northwestern State’s 56 shots were well contested
    • Bears block 9 shots (4 from Missi); Walter has 4 steals
    • 25% field goal defense, 0.59 points per possession, those are great stats
    • Even the free throw defense got in the act holding the Demons to 58%
  3.    Ja’Kobe Walter is in his second 3 point shooting slump (0-8).  He had a 1-10 earlier.
    • He’s doing so many other things well, great effort defensively; driving ball to the paint
    • Loved the contributions off the bench; notably 7/6 from Lohner; 3-3 from 3 from Grimes
  4.    RayJ Dennis & Jalen Bridges are so valuable
    • RayJ is a sneaky good defender along with being an amazing passer
    • Ability to drive reminds me of Demarcus Minor
    • 6-9 for his last from 3; 47% on the year
    • Bridges is an efficiency monster- 151 offensive rating;  valuable defender
  5.    Northwestern State was a bad team;  need everyone there for Seton Hall
    • Seton Hall will have had a week to prepare
    • This is the unofficial closing of the Ferrell Center; Mississippi Valley State is a bad team.
    • Let’s close this building down in style!
