Size wise it Sure looks like a 6a high school facility more than a power 5 college arena. Guessing it's much larger in person?

It's the trend.

I can't think of a single new or renovated arena in recent years where they went larger.

Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas, TCU, UH, SMU.
