Baylor set to hire veteran Jarrett Anderson as next TE coach
Baylor is set to hire current UTSA assistant offensive line coach Jarrett Anderson as its next tight ends coach, the program officially announced on Thursday. Prior to being named to the position in January of 2023, Anderson spent 24 years as an assistant coach at TCU where he coached multiple offensive position groups and served as co-offensive coordinator for five seasons.
Anderson coached the Horned Frogs’ offensive line in two different stints, first from 2014 to 2016 and again in 2020-21. Prior to that, Anderson spent three seasons (2017-19) as TCU’s inside receivers and tight ends coach. A graduate of New Mexico, began his career at TCU as a graduate assistant in 1998 under former head coach Gary Patterson
Anderson is Baylor’s third assistant hire this off season with experience as an offensive coordinator. Anderson joins offensive coordinator Jake Spavital and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic who have held the title during points of their career.
With day-to-day responsibilities for Aranda shifting to the defensive side of the ball for 2024, including play calling responsibilities, Anderson’s overall experience played a great factor in the hire. In addition, Anderson’s long-term stint in Texas as a prominent assistant gives the Bears a great presence in the state with the Texas High School Coaches Association.
At TCU, Anderson helped mentor players across multiple positions to high honors including multiple draft picks on the offensive line, receiver KeVontae Turpin, running back BJ Catalon and many more.
