Big Win, here are my thoughts
Awesome
- I’ve been advocating Yves Missi playing 30 minutes a game. I know 5 of those minutes were OT but he was hampered with two first half fouls. He’s a difference maker on both ends of the court. He will get better and better as the season goes along. Double double threat every game (13 points and 10 rebounds in his Big12 debut).
- Loved how dialed in on defense we were outside of a few possessions earlier in the game. You can see the improvement. Holding OSU to 1.0 points per possession helped us get the win.
- Dominating rebounding performance including 16 offensive rebounds. Missi and Bridges had 11 of those. The Bears outrebound OSU 40-31.
- Only 7 turnovers against strong ball pressure defense from OSU, that is terrific.
- Clutch free throw shooting down the stretch. The Bears make their last 6 free throws with Love, Bridges and Walter all hitting pressure shots.
- RayJ was big before fouling out, the 4 point play gave us the shot to win.
Needs Work
- Ball movement was a little stagnant which explains why their were only 8 assists on the night.
- The 2-15 from 3 was atypical. I doubt we will shoot that poorly again. Great to get a win even with the struggles there.
- Free throw defense was atrocious. OSU shoots 80% which was about 13 percentage points higher than their average.
