Baylor’s Dantwan Grimes Enters the Transfer Portal

WACO, Texas — Baylor Men’s Basketball guard Dantwan Grimes announced via social media that he has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The redshirt junior, who came to Waco from Kilgore College in the summer of 2022, was a second-team NJCAA All-American before seeing game action 12 times in green and gold.

Those appearances combined for a total of 99 minutes 56 points and 16 assists.

Grimes also played in the GLOBL Jam in Canada with Baylor prior to the 2022-23 season.

The point guard was losing minutes due to a shrinking rotation with Big 12 play beginning as well as true freshman Miro Little looking to have taken the role of backup point guard.

Grimes will have two years of eligibility remaining according to his own post.

Dude sat for a long time to learn. Showed some decent signs honestly. Probably feels like a lot of time wasted. Flag said he was the best defender on the perimeter last year in practice and I believe him.

Something seems off here but wouldn't be shocked if he gets run at a decent program.

Interesting timing. I Watched him on the trip to Detroit and New York and I am not surprised one bit. Sincere best to him. He is a hard worker but just can't play at this level. I hope he proves me wrong. Hopefully we land our next JB with his roster spot. Sic 'em

I think he is good and showed flashes of potential.

I think he is good too. He is quick and I figure with him redshirting last year and not getting much time on the floor helped him make this decision. I wish him the best of luck! On leaving now? Great question maybe to get a head start before others enter the portal or worse already have other coaches in his ear.

I liked what I saw from him as well. I was hoping he'd start cutting some into Nunn's playing time. But oh well. Good luck to him at his next stop.

I wonder if he felt like he had been leapfrogged by Miro Little and didn't see a path to playing time.
