Three Questions for Baylor Hoops: Lineups, Shot Profile and Defense!

With Baylor dropping an absolutely heartbreaking game to KSU, here are some questions to think through. 

1) How to balance Jayden Nunn vs. Ja’Kobe Walter at the end of games

RayJ Dennis, Langston Love, Jalen Bridges and a big man are going to close games for the Bears. That leaves Nunn or Walter as the final piece. 

Play Walter and the offense is better but the defense suffers. Walter doesn’t move well laterally and his defensive instincts are bad.

2 things I think are hurting us from 3pt range.

- 3 pt defense is a focus of BIg 12 teams against Baylor. In the Big 12 play we have to be better at contested 3's or find another way to score.

- Jakobe Walter is 4 - 21 (19%) from 3 over the last 4 games and 15 - 44 (34%) from the floor. Not good. Not sure if he is just in a cold stretch or if he is rattled by the intensity of the defense. He has got to be better. He likely will.

To your point, I think the best way to improve our looks from 3 point range will be off of our offensive rebounding. We are one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the nation and the best way to get open looks is off of offensive rebounds and kick outs to open shooters. We need our bigs to gather the ball and look for shooters instead of blindly attempting dunks and put-backs that have no chance of going in. We need our shooters getting organized behind the arc and presenting a target as soon as a teammate gets the rebound.
