Once you get past Tarleton, every game is a dogfight.

Really thought the Big XII would give us a rivalry week to end the season. Sad.

I know that no one could have seen this coming when we scheduled Utah....but it's really strange that game is being counted as a non-con.

I'll be shocked if we win that one....but if we do it stinks it won't count as a conference win. I guess on the flip side it won't count as a conference loss....which seems like the most likely outcome.

Front-loaded schedule. If we can get to the break at 3-3 I'll be happy.

@Utah will be a beating most likely. Air Force is a tough out but is losing a massive amount of experience from a 9-win team, including pretty much the entire core of the team that thumped us in 2022. @Colorado is a total wild card - they went 2-4 at home last year, but they will be better next year. We'll most likely be road dogs there unless CU just falls off a cliff early, deservedly.

BYU will be a dogfight but is winnable at home, and we never seem to bow up @ISU so I'm chalking that one down as a likely L as well.

I think the most likely scenario is 2-4 through the first six, but wins over AF, Tarleton and either @Colorado or BYU are possible. And if we're 3-3 into the break, we get our toughest games down the stretch at home with OSU, Kansas and TCU.

In a *moderately optimistic* scenario, with wins over Tarleton, AF, BYU, @Tech, TCU, @Houston and KU, we're 7-5 and bouncing into 2025 with a lot of momentum to carry into the recruiting trail. I'm not willing to engage in more optimism than that yet.

Honestly don't see a W after Tarleton State.

BYU and UH are probably the best bets.

AF, TCU, KU all much better coached and tougher teams. Would be a miracle to pull out a win there. although I will give you AF might still be getting their legs under them.

Is KSt-Arizona also a noncon game? Both of them are playing 10 conference opponents, just like us and Utah.

Also note that TCU is playing Long Island U and West Virginia is playing Albany.

Yes, I read that K State - Arizona is a nonconference game just like us and Utah.

I presume this will be the first time in history that a state university will have played its home games out of state.**

**Apparently Children's Mercy Park is a 19,000 seat soccer stadium on the Kansas side of the state line, so it's only the conference games played out of state at Arrowhead. But still, this is the football equivalent of TCU playing basketball at the FWISD gym a few years ago.

It has not been for a full home series like this will beā€¦ But I think maybe it has happened before for a single game in hurricane season.

South Carolina playing at LSU as a South Carolina home game really doesn't count.

Of the teams you listed in your moderately optimistic scenario, we lost to 5 of them the last time we played them, though I didn't check Tarleton. The other one is Kansas, and I am very thankful we didn't play them last year.

good thing previous results don't guarantee future outcomes. Otherwise we would have won more games after beating the same team the year prior and so on

Man 2021 must've sucked then after we had to play 6 teams we'd lost to the year before then, huh.

It's almost like different seasons are different seasons with different players, coaches and schemes in play, eh.

Once we beat Airforce in a dogfight of a game the team will understand what it's going to take and might lose one, maybe two games out of the rest of the season.
Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

6-6 is my fear. It'll be enough for Aranda to save his job....but not enough to have me feeling confident in our future.

I'm hoping for 7-5 or better....or a record that makes it clear we need to move on.

I remember TT being the sexy dark horse pick to win the B12 last year before they finished 5-4 in conference play. Of course....I would have traded seasons with them last year in a heartbeat.

From a pure scheduling perspective, November actually looks pretty good with 2 home games against some tough competition and a bye before our game @WVU (where we have never won). Those 3 games will likely all have impact on the Big XII champ (even if we are out of the race).

I figure the game against Houston will be a toss up just like last year.

I'd say there is a pretty good chance Aranda gets fired during the Nov 9 bye. If he only has one or two wins and gets blown out by TCU, he should get fired.

My how far we have fallen that playing a Mountain West Conference team is a "tough" game....
