Alvin (TX) Iowa Colony High School 2025 EDGE Christopher Johnson‍ has committed to Baylor over Kansas State, Houston, Georgia Tech, and UTSA. He becomes commit No. 9 in Baylor's 2025 recruiting class and the first EDGE commit. SicEm365’s Grayson Grundhoefer posted a Baylor prediction for Johnson back in January.

BAYLOR 2025 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

“The school I go to, Iowa Colony, they started off as a school that had to rebuild at first and when I look at Baylor I see the same thing as a team I can build with,” he said “It looks like it is a player led program and I love that about that team.”

The 6-foot-3, 243-pound prospect posted 59 tackles, 18 for loss, nine sacks, and two forced fumbles this past season as he earned District 12-4A Defensive Lineman of the Year. He was also a First-Team All-District Player in 2022 as well.

“Baylor was the school I wanted to go to from the start,” he said at Next Level Athlete Camp in January. “That’s why I started going to their camps, went to their camps twice. Going to the camp the second time and getting an offer from there, now that’s a blessing. Right now they are at the top of my list. ”

The Baylor staff has been fighting over Johnson a little bit as far as whether he will play EDGE or defensive end at the college level but Baylor’s JACK coach Caleb Collins has been his lead recruiter during this process.

Following Junior Day Johnson told SicEm365’s Grayson Grundhoefer, “What stood out to me the most was the way the coaches wanted to actually bond with the recruits and get to know them and their family's unlike like other junior days i've been to where they are focused on just recruiting them and not talking to every kid. The way the coaching staff planned out this junior day really shows that they mean it when they say person over player!”

Johnson is scheduled to take his official visit to Baylor June 7th-9th. Currently he has an 87, three-star initial rating on 247.

My evaluation following Next Level Athlete Camp: “Johnson has great size at 6’3, 243 pounds but he combines that with tremendous burst and bend. This is the second time I have gotten to watch him in person and I continue to be very impressed and shocked more schools haven’t offered. This is the kind of prospect Baylor needs to land early and I believe they have a great shot to at Junior Day.”
