National Championship winner and former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua has declared for the NBA Draft per his Instagram.

After transferring to Baylor from UNLV heading into his sophomore year, the native of Cameroon became a key part of Baylor 2020-21 National Championship team thanks to his incredible work ethic and a redshirt year in 2019-20.

In his redshirt junior year, “Everyday Jon” was becoming a versatile NBA prospect as a small-ball center and was the key figure for Baylor coming off the bench. His path took a drastic turn when he suffered a season-ending knee injury against Texas on February 12th, 2022.

Despite the injury, EJ still split the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award with Moussa Cisse (OSU)
and Gabe Osabuohien (WVU).

After arduous rehab, Tchamwa Tchatchoua returned to game action on February 4th, 2023 against Texas Tech.

Through his time in Waco, Tchamwa Tchatchoua played in 85 games for the Bears averaging 5.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in 16.5 minutes. He only made two starts, but he was on the floor at the end of many games.

A Baylor fan favorite not just for his play but for who he is as a person, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua will see if his name gets called on June 26th or 27th in New York City.
