The Baylor All Sports Report: Soccer Starts 2024-25 Baylor Athletics

 Soccer

• Baylor soccer kicked off the 2024-25 Athletics season with a 1-1 week, posting a 5-2 win in its home lid-lifter on Sunday in Waco, which followed a 1-0 loss at No. 18 Mississippi State on Thursday. 
• The Bears head to Hawaii to take on a pair of tests, including facing the Rainbow Wahine on Wednesday at 7 p.m. local and 12 a.m. (on Thursday) CT in Manoa.
• Baylor will then square off with Portland on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT, before returning home to host No. 25 Texas A&M on Aug. 30. 
• Ashley Merrill had a brace against the Bonnies, while Hallie Augustyn and Hanna Augustyn each have a goal. In between the pipes, Azul Alvarez has allowed one goal in 135 minutes, good for a 0.67 goal-against average. 

Volleyball

• Baylor will prepare for the 2024 season with a pair of opportunities to open the Ferrell Center, playing its annual Green & Gold Game on Wednesday at 3 p.m. before hosting Texas A&M in an exhibition on Saturday at 1 p.m.
• The Bears open their season on with the Baylor Classic on Aug. 30 vs. Abilene Christian and Tulsa and Sept. 1 vs. Campbell. 
• Baylor head coach Ryan McGuyre is in his 10th season leading the program and has guided the Bears to NCAA Tournament berths in each season since 2016, including a Final Four spot in 2019. He has posted a 196-76 record in his Baylor career, the most wins in program history.
• The Bears are coming off a 17-13 season that saw them finish with a No. 23 ranking by the AVCA last year.
