Yes. Men's basketball is great and some of other sports.

But Texas=Football.

That's so embarrassing. This guy is so far in over his head as a head coach
Yeah, that Three Amigos scene probably gave the team false expectations, amped them up too prematurely, and made them flat for the game.

Did we get a new strength and conditioning coach this season?

I can't believe we went from Blake Shapen to Finn. Someone made a bad decision.
Meanwhile Shapen is at Miss State. 15 of 20, 247 yds, 12.4 per, 3 TDs and a 228.2 rating

We can officially stop pretending Blake Shapen was/is a good quarterback. He's getting completely worked over by Arizona State.

We haven't had a decent quarterback since Rhule was Coach, and Shapen was hardly the answer. I recall many times when he was slow on his feet and his passes were often behind the intended receiver. At times he could be a motivator, but his play lacked any consistency.

So far, DQ has tended in the wrong direction. Though DQ may have a tight spiral, he routinely throws the ball off of his back foot, something Shapen was guilty of much of the time.

If RGIII is going to be idle for awhile, why not bring him in to work with our quarterbacks.

I don't think what made RG3 special is coachable...

Not sure what Arizona State game you were watching. It was a one TD loss. He was 18 of 28 for 268 yards and a 64.3% completion rate, 9.6 per catch, 2 TDs and a 168.3 rating. He endured three sacks. He has yet to throw an INT this year.

Meanwhile deQuan Finn, yesterday went 9 of 21, 115 yds, 42.;9 completion rate, 5.5 per catch, 1 TD that was more about 'after the catch' than it was the throw, 3 sacks that often was because he couldnt decide what to do with the ball and just stood there, he ended the game with a 104.6 rating

We would have won the Utah game if Shapen were still here. Absolutely. This was a totally winnable game. Sawyer Robertson would probably have won this game too. That is on Aranda. This loss is totally on Aranda. Really poor decision after poor decision.

I watched the Arizona State game that Blake played Mississippi State out of with like 90 yards passing in the first half and a horrible sack/turnover that went for a touchdown to make it a 20-3 game in the second quarter.

And I watched him continue to struggle as ASU tacked 10 more points onto that lead to go up 30-3 before Shapen finally made a handful of plays to try and dig out of a giant hole that he helped dig. In other words, it looked exactly like a 2023 Blake Shapen performance.

Finn was terrible yesterday. That doesn't make Blake Shapen good. He was a completely mediocre quarterback who chose to leave. I'm not pining after him in the least.

We are all entitled to our opinion. IMO, Shapen or even the fella that we have in place, Robertson would have won the game yesterday. Finn was atrocious. IowaBear warned us about Finn. And surely Aranda saw this in practice.

I will repeat myself, this was a 100% winnable game that I have to lay at the feet of Aranda. Too many bone headed decisions. Not bringing in Robertson at least by the start of the second half is on him. That two point after the TD was another unexplainable one.

This is the world we live in now. If you pay a guy $750k to be your QB, you are under immense pressure to make him the guy. College football is now a stupid watered down version of the NFL. That's the bad news. The good news is I no longer care about college football so I get my weekends back just in time for the best weather in Texas.

Utah has won something like 32 games at home since it's last loss and BU was going to win? BU put up a good fight, but Utah was clearly the better team. That D had the game well in hand. Neither Shapen or Roberson change that game flow or outcome.

At least both are capable of something called the forward pass. We look like ****ing Iowa offensively. Our pass game is utterly atrocious with Finn. The guy is ass anyone saying otherwise is just delusional at this point.

You are comparing Az St to Utah's D? At Salt Lake? That is not a fair comparison.
I am comparing Blake to deQuan. That is a fair comparison. Blake was not a deer in the headights. deQuan would absolutely freeze in the backfield at times. He is not an option quarterback as he had too many moments trying to decide if he should keep it or not. Not a lot of clean handoffs. He's not a pro style QB, throws a beautiful spiral that very seldom lands near a WR, much less a catchable one. He's a running QB that might have won the game if he and Aranda had committed to it.

After the first quarter, this game was handed to us on a silver platter. I'm pretty sure Shapen or Sawyer would have taken that and run rings around the Utah defense.
Utah has won something like 32 games at home since it's last loss and BU was going to win? BU put up a good fight, but Utah was clearly the better team. That D had the game well in hand. Neither Shapen or Roberson change that game flow or outcome.
Not sure what game you watched, it certainly wasnt the Baylor-Utah game yesterday. Finn was atrocious. Committed mistakes on the options that you learn in Jr High. His eyes and his head would follow whomever he gave the ball to instead of faking his way to his second option. The LBs were cueing on his eyes and head. And he as stoic in the pocket. Looked like the Statue of Liberty back there, and not even wearing the gown. This was a winnable game with any other quarterback. Utah failed after the first quarter.

at this point of the season, I would totally agree with you. Finn is catastrophic. And the fact that we are paying him nearly 3/4 of a million is salt in the wound.

Bring on the youngster!

Crazy how today's CFb works! Paying a dude 750 K to go like 4/14 for 75 yards.
Finn if he remains the starter all year will show flashes at times. Even bad QBs have good games here and there. But he is who he is. And I hope for the sake of Dave's job and this team he makes the switch to Robertson

Teams do not dominate at home like Utah by accident. Finn wasmt out there in a vacuum.Utahs D had a little to do with Finna performance and the game flow.

What game were you watching, BU had no answer for the Utah Dline. There were no running lanes, we couldn't get wide on them and Finn couldn't get time to drop back.

Let's not make this more than it was, BU D played inspired and kept BU in the game. BU was not upsetting Utah at home, where they have a top 5 record. It was a nice effort to build on and they showed some spunk, but in no way was BU in this game. We were playing catch up from kick off and on every play.

There is a reason we had so many penalties and they didn't, we were outmatched. When you are outmatched you grab, hold, and such to keep up. That was indicative all game. We were having to hold and grab, they did not. Sorry, this wasn't one guy sucking and costing us the game.

You're right… Finn played one hell of a game. We should probably up his pay to a Mil. Are you related to the guy? Serious question
There's zero way you can watch BU and say to yourself man this Finn kid is good. Did the OL force Finn to miss JV level throws with a clean pocket? Did the OL force him to throw on his back foot (his mechanics are god awful) the lengths you're going to in order to defend Finn are now hilarious

You have your opinion, I have mine. I believe that this was a winnable game if Aranda had made vastly better coaching decisions, including trying Sawyer at QB. And of course that 'go for two' after the TD that made no sense at that point in the game. I would have loved it at the end, if we were going to go for the win instead of tie. However he put us in a position that we HAD to go for the 2 just to tie. Several other instances came up that you could only shake your head at. But the biggest was leaving Finn in the game after that first half. We could have at least tried Sawyer. If he didnt cut it, maybe thrown in a DT or TE or 3rd string backup kicker. Any one of them would have been better than Finn. As it appears Aranda is joined at the hip with Finn, I truly hope he gets better. Otherwise it's gonna be a loooong season.

No issues.

The biggest positive I saw was that BU came back and matched the intensity of Utah, that would not have happened last year. I did feel like BU was surprised by the intensity and physcial play of Utah at first, they did up it to match. To your point, we were down big by that time. Hopefully, they learn from it.

If we win some games, it will not be considered a bad loss.

I think the biggest issue with going for two is that failure was deflating to a team that questions its identity. Not to mention it was also unnecessary.
