Ten Things: Baylor Travels to Morgantown

Baylor travels to Morgantown with bowl eligibility on the line for both teams. Baylor is also looking to win for the first time at West Virginia. Here are at least ten things which stood out during the game.

  1. The game started at 3pm and the defense hasn’t made it in yet, but the offense sure did. Track meet early.
  2. West Virginia fired the DC for this?
  3. One series on and one off for the defense and an interception through both hands for a TD
  4. Micah Gifford has turned into a valuable special teams member on coverage
  5. Track meet in favor of Baylor with Baldwin burning the WVU secondary
  6. Time to go for the first half dagger with 2:26 to go and Bryson Washington!!!!
  7. Noooooooo.... don't get cute. The defensive players were failed by the coaches after being on the field 19 minutes of the first half with a shortened travel squad...
  8. Great work by the offense to respond at half to cover for the special teams call. Now kick it away!
  9. There is no way that is a touchdown in any place other than Morgantown
  10. I’m not sure there is a kicker on the roster to hit a 54 yard try in the Appalachian weather
  11. Offense sputtering in the second half due to holding calls
  12. Prayers up to the WVU WR as that looked like a nasty ankle injury
  13. Not sure the DC at WVU should have been the one fired after watching the call on the 4th and 1 from the 11
  14. Linton and Randolph are versatile players, but deep coverage is not currently in their “bag of goodies”
  15. Great coverage by Matt Jones on the 4th down
  16. The offense seems to be pushing for possession in the 4th quarter with the offensive line starting to control the game and giving the defense time to rest and that was a man’s man’s touchdown run with 6 yards of carry after contact
  17. COREY GORDON! ICE PICK!
  18. A fresh Pendergrass is pounding WVU ass
  19. Baylor wins for the first time in Morgantown
  20. Get your bowl tickets after four wins in a row!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
So nothing about the stupidity of calling an onside kick when you're up by 14. Two plays later resulting in a WV TD?

I'm still awaiting the "logic" of that one…not that you'll dig into it.

I understand the logic (and gamble) of the call. If we recover it, score right before half, and then receive 2nd half kick, CDA is brilliant and masterful. It's just one of those do or die calls coaches make that are primed for Monday morning quarterbacking.

Big picture, I like the call for the message it says to the team. Be aggressive! With parity in college football these days, teams are going to have to take chances to separate themselves.

Agree. I didn't like the onside kick even before you pointed out that the defense had been on the field for 19 minutes in the 1st half. Low percentage play and thus more often than not is going to swing the momentum back to the home team.

So did Kevin Steele in the UNLV game. I needen't remind you of how stupid that was.

Probably so. But it was still a stupid call seeing how it resulted.
