Tulane EDGE Matthew Fobbs-White Commits to Baylor
Tulane transfer EDGE Matthew Fobbs-White has committed to head coach Dave Aranda and Baylor following an official visit on Friday. He becomes the second commit the Bears have landed out of the transfer portal, joining Texas A&M nose tackle Samu Taumanupepe.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound prospect posted 21 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and 22 quarterback pressures during his sophomore season this fall.
Per Pro Football Focus, he scored an 80.0 overall defensive grade with an elite 91.2 pass-rush grade. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Fobbs-White built a good relationship with the Baylor coaching staff during his initial high school recruitment, and he even took an official visit to Waco in June 2022. The previous relationship between Fobbs-White and the coaching staff certainly gave the Bears an inside track to secure an official visit when he entered the portal this time around.
The Tulane transfer fills an obvious need at the EDGE rusher position following the departures of sixth-year seniors Garmon Randolph and Steve Linton to the NFL Draft. Randolph and Linton combined for 50 tackles, seven for loss, 6.5 sacks and 38 quarterback pressures this season.
The staff also signed South Oak Cliff four-star EDGE and top-200 prospect Kamauryn Morgan in December to help solidify the position.
