Setting the Table As the Second Wave of the Transfer Portal Begins

What a start for the Bears during the initial transfer portal window. The staff has secured 11 commitments at multiple positions of need and has been incredible at securing commitments following official visits. Baylor has hosted 14 official visitors so far during the transfer portal cycle, and 11 of them have committed. That is extremely impressive and makes each official visit scheduled a very important one.

So what's with using the photo of Aggies' wide receiver, #3, Noah Thomas??

He entered the transfer portal yesterday, but I don't see Baylor mentioned among likely destinations.

"The 6-6, 200-pound Thomas led A&M this year with 574 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns."

"Thomas was originally a member of the 2022 recruiting class for the Aggies. He chose Texas A&M over other offers from Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Penn State, Tennessee, South Carolina, SMU, Arkansas, Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, and Cal among others. Thomas ended up ranked as a four-star and the No. 44 wide receiver on the 247Sports Composite ranking."

UT, Miami or Georgia - - - he isn't coming to Baylor.

True, Aggie leading receiver is likely looking for a scheme upgrade to suit his talents with a better chance at the playoff, just speculating. It would be great to have him, but he will be in pretty high demand. Outside chance he has enough feels for Baylor, so maybe if they can throw enough $ at him it could be an option.

At any rate, it's pretty much evident we've learned how to be at least competitive at playing the NIL game and apparently now have the means to do it.

Our defensive transfers are a big reason why I didn't jump off a cliff after our D's poor showing against LSU.

The offense, even not at its best, was still good enough to win. Add a solid defense and we are definitely contenders to win the Big 12 in 2025.

(1) he would be undisputed number one receiver for us
(2) sawyer is top returning p4 qb in country, I believe , in qbr, and finished red hot even with foot injury
(3) we could have top 5-10 national offense next year
(4) we should have as good as a path as almost anyone to Conference championship game next year and hence great playoff chance, perhaps as good a chance as anyone outside a few teams in both sec and big 10
(5) walker white is top 5 national qb from 2022 class from auburn as backup
(6) Baylor legacy
(7) Alabama transfer will be one of top slots in country. Trigg one of top tight ends. Washington one of top rbs. Those will all require attention so he will get a lot of single man. There is a heck of a lot Baylor has to sell to him right now if they have the money left.

Here's hoping we also recruit more big-money donors to keep reeling in top transfers!

#1, #2 and #5 are solid reasons to come to Baylor. he would still be #1 at ATM but Reed is not the QB that Sawyer and White are....

He will be drafted regardless where he goes - - definitely get more attention in our offense, etc.

Defense wasn't very good, but they gave up 30 points. KO return for a TD and Pick Six just compounded things. Their offense converted some huge 4th downs - especially that opening drive.

Our defense improved this year (anything would be an improvement over last years atrocity), but looking for a much bigger jump next season.

I am not sure what you were watching. LSU's offense got whatever they wanted or needed whenever they wanted it. Our BDs were so outclassed that it was flat out embarrassing. We had to pull guys out of the box to protect against the 40 yard TD passes in the second half which opened up the run for them.

We played hard and the offense did its job. The defense was not up to the standard of the LSU offense.

We desperately need the current portal players to be hits and add a CB who can cover this type of WR.

Might want to re-read my post. Our defense wasn't good. I expected a shootout coming in and that's what we got. Nussmeier is a damn good QB.

LSU defense was worse, but they got the huge huge score on their end.

I appreciate your original comment Big12Bear. It is accurate and I agree with it.

I was replying to comment after yours that "our defense improved in the second half."

It did not improve. LSU still got whatever they wanted or needed.

I am sorry for the confusion.
