Baylor freshman wing VJ Edgecombe has declared for the NBA Draft, according to his social media account.

Edgecombe, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, averaged 15 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He shot 34% from beyond the arc, 44% from the field and 78% from the charity stripe.

The Bahamas native is expected to be drafted in the first round, marking the fifth straight season that Baylor has a player selected in the first round, joining Davion Mitchell (No. 9, 2021), Jeremy Sochan (No. 9, 2022), Keyonte George (No. 16, 2023), Ja’Kobe Walter (No. 19, 2024) and Yves Missi (No. 21, 2024).

Edgecombe has a chance to be the highest-drafted Baylor player ever. The current record is held by Ekpe Udoh, who was drafted by Golden State with the sixth pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Most NBA mock drafts have Edgecombe selected anywhere in the two-to-five range. The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft will be held on Wednesday, June 25, in Brooklyn, New York.

Be careful attributing bugwb's thoughts and opinions to others. I think you give him way too much credit when suggesting his nonsense is shared by a larger contingent of Baylor fans.

I think pretty much everyone who pays even cursory attention to our men's basketball program knew Edgecombe would be gone after one year and expects him to be successful in the NBA.

Bugwb is a unique beast, whose internet tough guy schtick manifests itself in trashing pretty much everyone associated with our programs. He's best off ignored or at least taken at face value for what he is. You know ... a moron.

WOW didn't see that coming. He just got to Waco. Ok seriously he was heading to the NBA absolutely but why write an article pretending this decision was shocking or even big news.

I wish him the best in the NBA. I'll never see him play again because the NBA is worthless to watch.
