Welcome to the 2025 post-week 1 edition of the SicEm365 Premium “Big 12 Power Poll”. Over the last few days, the awesome members of our Premium Forums had access to a simple form to rank the football teams of the Big 12, however they saw fit, heading into week 2 of the 2025 season.
Here are the raw results:
The Baylor Bears dropped the furthest in the rankings, down four spots to No. 6. The Other big movers in the the Big 12 after week 1 were Utah (up four sots to No. 2), Kansas State (down three spots to No. 9), Cincinnati (up three to No. 10) and Oklahoma State (down three to No. 15).
This edition of the poll had the fewest responses so far with just 45, but that was still enough to trim the top 5% and bottom 5% of placements for each team to make sure no single response skewed the data too much.
Back to the movement in the rankings, respondents are all too familiar with Baylor’s 38-24 loss to Auburn, but they were equally convinced by Utah in the Utes’ 43-10 drubbing of UCLA.
Elsewhere, Kansas State’s struggles against FCS North Dakota saw the Wildcats drop into the bottom half of the rankings. Oklahoma State also failed to impress against UT Martin despite winning 27-7, making the Pokes’ drop understandable.
As for the Cincinnati Bearcats, their three-spot rise after losing a close game to Nebraska appears to be more of a product of lackluster showings from Colorado, Houston and the aforementioned OSU. Perhaps Georgia Tech is underrated by SicEm365 members, or maybe it is a correction after the Bearcats were dropped two spots last week in the lead-up to week 1.
Now, if you’re someone who likes to dabble in simple statistics, I also pulled the min, max and mode for each team. That is the top rank, bottom rank and most common ranking. I did not remove the top 5% and bottom 5% of placements for best, worst and most common here (but I did for the average rank, so sorry for any confusion).
So this week, Baylor lost all 22 of its first-place votes while Utah picked up 10. Noting that there are 12 fewer first-place votes available this week, this is a clear sign that Utah is gaining traction on the forums as a legitimate contender.
And as always, the best and worst ranks — particularly the disparity between them — is a fun thing to look at in this conference in particular.
If you want even more numbers, I’ve got them! How about the differences between the post-week 0 rankings and the post-week 1 rankings?
