Welcome to the 2025 post-week 6 edition of the SicEm365 Premium “Big 12 Power Poll”. Over the last few days, the awesome members of our Premium Forums had access to a simple form to rank the football teams of the Big 12 however they saw fit, heading into week 7 of the 2025 season.

Here are the results:

The biggest movers this week were Cincinnati — jumping four spots thanks to a win over Iowa State — and BYU moving up three spots after a 14-point win against West Virginia. Iowa State and Houston both dropped spots after exposing losses to Cincinnati and Texas Tech, respectively.

The Baylor Bears stayed steady in 7th yet again, this time after rescuing victory from the jaws of defeat against Kansas State in Waco.

Last week, I commented that Oklahoma State and West Virginia seem cemented in their spots, and I am not close to declaring the same for Texas Tech at the top of the standings.

Also, the line between No. 7 and No. 8 in the power poll that I drew attention to last week immediately had two more teams cross it. Cincinnati vaulted up to No. 4 from No. 8 and Utah fell from No. 5 to No. 8. This No. 7/8 line is still the clearest break in the week-by-week chart, but it appears things will get murkier on this front before things settle down toward the end of the season.

Also, if you’re someone who likes to dabble in simple statistics, I pulled the min, max and mode for each team. That is the top rank, bottom rank and most common ranking. I did not remove the top 5% and bottom 5% of placements for best, worst and most common here (but I did for the average rank, so sorry for any confusion).

This week, we continued the positive trend in total response — 39 voters last week to 43 this week — so keep that in mind as you peruse the data.

For first-place votes, Texas Tech consolidated power atop the rankings, taking all but one of Iowa State’s first-place votes from last week. Arizona State and BYU both grabbed three first-place votes, marking the first time since week 5 the Sun Devils garnered any first-place votes and the first time all season for the Cougars.

And as always, the best and worst ranks — especially the disparity between them — is a fun thing to look at in this conference in particular. There are pretty negative opinions about almost every team halfway through the season. In fact, seven of the teams in the conference were tabbed as either the worst or the second-worst team in the Big 12. That number was five last week, so opinions on some teams are souring. I specifically did not include Texas Tech’s No. 16 ranking or TCU’s worst ranking of No. 15 in this because those were from the same voter who clearly just wanted to put Baylor’s in-state rivals at the bottom. There was no prompt for how to rank teams, mind you, I just think including those rankings in the observations would have been disingenuous on my part.

Now, if you want even more numbers, I’ve got them. How about the differences between the post-week 5 rankings and the post-week 6 rankings?

With all of those numbers and charts and graphs provided to you, where do you draw the lines for tiers in the Big 12? Which teams are the premium members underestimating or overestimating currently?

One last question: how did the staff of SicEm365.com do with their rankings this week? Below is the full breakdown of our individual responses to the poll.

Let us know what you think in the comments, and for you premium members, look out for the next Big 12 Power Poll on Sunday, October 12th!
