Sometimes ya gotta call it like you see it. Some times you play like a top 10 sometimes you dont.

what i said about jana is very true she was losing the game for us, and yes we did win but it was because she wasnt in the game.

A good reason to stop caring about the AP poll

I feel like Jana's role has to change now. Once she was benched in 3rd quarter the offense seemed to finally look normal. The offense with the starters never seems to get going; the P&Rs with her as ball handler go nowhere. Have to move her off the ball or something. Can she run around screens? Need to find a way to get her confidence back.

I love jana and all she has did at baylor but I think her " starting role" is being rushed. She has been an offensive liability no bring a scoring pg. We played better with the bigger line up both at Duke and Unlv

After watching the game video this morning, meandering thoughts:

1) zone O is at best rusty and at worst lacking
2) shot selection is poor.
3) two above caused in part by Buggs and Fontleroy having zero ability/desire to reinitiate O after first action fails. They simply forced designed first shot rather than pass out and reinitiate.
4) nominal backcourt pressure caused headaches…..imagine a real press
5) JVG had a couple nice assists
6) when Baylor falls behind and has trouble scoring, Scott's shot selection gets worse
7) Scott plays PG, she wins the dribble on dribble penetration consistently. JVG simply has given up trying to win the dribble because she can't. Her one attempt she travelled.
8) JVG is a defensive problem. 2nd Q she switches gets buried by a big, calls out for a switch, gets buried by another big. Fortunately UNLV never takes advantage. Right after, JVG fearing the switch forces through on a backside screen, both Baylor players go to perimeter player rather than a switch, uncontested layup ensues. Bad D caused by size issue. Then a wing buries JVG on transition O and scores easily. Size matters.
9) we have to adjust to lefties better
10) both Baylor men and women simply do a poor job recognizing high wing pressure and backcutting to attack it
11) our shot selection when the first action doesn't work is TERRIBLE. simply refuse to reinitiate and run a quality second action.
12) best run occurs with JVG cemented to bench. Is experiment finally over?
13) UNLV did a solid job attacking worst defender on court…….JVG or Deng.
14) Deng's slower feet less an issue than JVG's lack of height
15) Deng takes good shots. Only takes good shots. She needs to teach shot selection to the team.
16) Deng with turnover due to picking up dribble in weird spot. Team habit.
17) Being able to switch almost everything makes D sooooooooooo much better.
18) UNLV runs decent motion O but lacks shooters. We should have dominated them.
19) Our shot selection is really bad. Our ability to stop our O action and reinitiate is mostly nonexistent.
20) defensive rebounding was bad but some of that was UNLV shots taken.
21) WBB officiating is not good. But this crew wasn't as bad as many.
22) the announcers were terrible. Normal stuff.
23) Abraham's weight and conditioning is soooooooooo much better.
24) late game O for D and D for O substitutions were solid.
25) Buggs and Fontleroy must stop pressing on O.

Escaped with a W on what should have been an easy win. Hopefully the JVG experiment is done.
Can we practice shot selection and O reinitiation?
