ORLANDO, Florida – No. 7 Baylor women’s basketball (4-1) faces the Davidson Wildcats (4-2) in the Bears’ second game in the WBCA State Farm Showcase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, November 22, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. The game will be televised on ESPN+.

While Davidson is a solid team, the Bears should be able to rebound following a tough 57-52 loss to Iowa. The Wildcats are 0-2 against high-major opponents this season, with losses to Mississippi State and Miami (FL).

Scott is a turnover machine. Already 5 in this game.

Scott would reduce her passing turnovers substantially were she to limit her passing to the use of two hands. I wish she would review her film and measure the percentage of turnovers created by single handed passing vs. two-handed passing.

If Abraham would keep both feet on the floor in the defensive position, and put two hands on the ball whenever she reaches for it around the basket on offense, she would be a more productive player.

Nelms is a breath of fresh air; she is a smart player and I am glad to see her get more minutes.

Pitiful effort. Keep fouling and sending them to FT line where they will kill us. No play calling. Lazy. Turnovers. Davidson has 1,800 undergrads if that puts this into perspective.

Glad to see Buggs step up her game and put the rebound back into the basket; she looks refreshed and tuned into the game. Nice to see her lead the team's effort today.

Amazing. Davidson leading at halftime. This team sure needs a lot of work. Quite a few cupcakes between now and Texas. Maybe, eh?

Davidson girls receive NO NIL. This should be 20 point lead by halftime

We were given a top 10 ranking but frankly don't look it at all. We've gotta be more balanced on the offensive end and find some contributions off the bench. Like Fred said, no way we should be in a close game right now.

Deng's improvement from the first couple of games to now is terrific. Clearly she has studied her game and made changes in small ways that are providing meaningful benefits. Kudos to her and the coaches who are working with her.

We have missed about 10 free throws!

We were given a top 10 ranking because we beat Duke, who at the time was ranked 6, and the game was the first of the season and shown on national TV. When Duke also lost to an unranked WV, then lost its third game, clearly Duke was over rated, and the #7 ranking we earned appears to be premature. Hopefully we return to a top 10 ranking neared the end of the season, and the question now is whether or not we will still be ranked after this game. Top-25 teams typically don't average as many turnovers as we are giving up nor shooting as poorly from the free-throw line as we have during our first six games.

I'm not confident at all. Why oh why is KJ not on court? We need height. And how is that big slow girl on their team not being doubled in the paint every time?

This team is so frustrating. No playmaker to set up Scott, poor shot selection, poor shooting, and Bella and DLB have seemingly regressed each year they've been here. Do not understand.

Nice to see Bella using the backboard on her layups.

Scott played so well last game and then failed to put the ball on the backboard with the layup; voila, another turnover due to the not hitting the basket within regulation - not a smart play.

Why on earth would Scott grab the player at this point in the game! What a stupid play!!!!! Now we have four fouls and the next foul puts Davidson on the foul line.
Cove Dawg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No idea why you wouldn't just foul and force to make free throws rather than giving the opportunity for the three.

Stupid foul by Scott; she may be a terrific scorer, but clearly she has poor basketball IQ.

Deng scores the last two points on a smartly placed layup. Congratulations to all on the win. Hooray!

Very impressive OT win over. Powerhouse Davidson team with zero NIL money.

This will have use moving in the new rankings next week.

But in which direction. .??

All but 2 (on bench) on Davidson roster are international. They can't get NIL....smart move.

How can their forwards manhandle ours. Big and slow, but we can't defend them. We jumped into them constantly.

Why do we look so exhausted? France trip was long ago. And Davidson had tough game in Florida too

Love Scott, but she had no fight in her eyes tonight

Why silly fouls at critical times, Scott and Fontleroy ?

Why can't we make a dang foul shot when no one else can miss one? Continual problem !

Why was coach also sleep walking through the game? No passion!

I suggest we purchase a transfer on their forwards if they typically school blue chip players

With a team like Dav. You have to start strong and give them no hope early. You can't goof around like we did!

Only ray of hope, Deng finally looks like the real deal. She got a chance to shine.

The girls on bench are zombies, no joy, no encouragement for floor players.

I truly wonder if several players have a cold or stomach bug. We looked drugged!

Now I feel better. Thanks.

I suggest we don't go on world travel tour next year. So much traveling, too close together. Need to rest over thanksgiving

That situation occurs a lot in the men's game. More often than not, they don't foul. You'd have to ask someone like Drew as to why you should not.

Their 6'2" guard Dunn put up 33 points on us. How could we not figure her out!

I would agree. I think that has a lot to do with it. I don't think we have any more road games until the Texas game. Great to see Deng starting to show what she can do. That should help a lot. Hope we can get settled during this upcoming stretch at Foster.

To me, Davidson is a lot like some of those Ivy League schools that have given both our men's and women's team problems in the past. They typically take care of the basketball and are good at the free throw line. They are not teams that are going to consistently beat Power 4 schools or themselves, but are good enough to present problems and can typically keep the game closer than the name on their jersey leads the casual fan to believe or expect.

It's boneheaded moves like these that make fans question coaching/decision-making from time to time.

Seems like common sense to foul when up 3 and only around 5 seconds left in the men's game.

In our game today, that also should have applied, as Davidson was out of time outs and could not advance the ball after what would have been our subsequent free throw attempts.

If we weren't going to foul, we basically should have escorted them to the basket for a layup, as we still would have maintained the lead.

But nope, we allow a 3-point attempt after a Davidson miss.

Reasons you should foul or give the opponent an easy 2:

First off, you should be able to make your free throws to push the lead back up to 3 and reset the cycle after you foul and they make their free throws (or they make the layup you give them). And sometimes, your opponent will bail you out and miss a free throw themselves.

But even if you miss a free throw yourself, you simply tip your cap to your opponent if they beat you on a subsequent half-court buzzer-beater.

Seems like coaches in all sports could use an advisor on the sidelines.
