Pitino was smart to float the cash for Hopkins. He's killed us today along with Sellers. We've held Ejiofor in place.

Is there a stat for missed point blank layups? We might be setting a record

And then you see the glimpse of Tounde's athleticism there for the 3 point play.

Parts of the game I've seen defense looks absolutely terrible again. The zone is trash. Hopefully Sanchez feels the freedom to get into everyone since he's a vet.

Don't have the depth to press

St. John's is just better than we are right now. But I still like this team. We'll continue to improve and get better on both ends. But the effort is there. This team hustle and competes. Just short on depth right now, especially with White out and Skillings in foul trouble.

This one's over. I'm out. St. John's is a much better team than us at this point in the season. I mentally prepared myself for some good games and also some ugly games during our non-conference as we develop an identity. This was the first ugly game.

He just needs to attack the rim. He's a strong finisher and a solid free-throw shooter.

Too many wide open 3s for SJ

We scrapped with a lot of offensive boards but need to turn them into points

We lack a true dagger type of shooter on this team - Drew hasn't had one in a long time.

I can certainly see why we're not ranked after 4-0 though. Guess this year is a rebuild

Rataj has 10 offensive rebounds today. I wonder what the school record is.

Obi having a rough shooting game. Lots of good looks - just can't hit.

Rico had a boatload one game back in the day. Can't remember exactly how many. Rataj is probably close to a school record

Had we hit at least half of them, this might still end up being a loss, but it would at least still be a game at this point.

As good as he was against Creighton (especially in the 1st half) he has been at least equally as bad in this game.

I hope that's not a trend with him. We need consistency from him.

We've played two teams with long, uber athletic guards -- Washington and St. John's -- and he's looked overwhelmed in both games. UTRG, Tarleton and the less athletic guards from Creighton are who he shot well against. That's probably more of his comfort zone.

Didn't Darling cover Obi most of the game? He's quick, but I wouldn't call him long. Either way, just a bad shooting night for him.

Baylor finding out that ISO basketball has troubles against top teams that are athletic….annual occurrence.

Baylor finding out that 20-22 seconds of perimeter passing and dribbling that doesn't stress a good defense but leads to a late shot clock questionable heave…….annual occurrence.

Can we steal that kid from Creighton? If we are going to ISO, ISO, ISO might be good to have a deadeye shooter.

Actually think this team is better positioned for ISO than the past few seasons. Carr, Tounde, Skillings, Williams, and even Rataj can often beat their defender off the dribble. Just need to finish better. A little more rim protection on defense from Bodo would help as well.

As far as Bodo goes nobody seems to have a clue when he's going to be available, or even if he's going to play at all this season.

No, Sellers was on Obi most of the time. Sellers is 6'5" and with a wingspan not at Cam's level but longer than most.

TBD on who we get to play.

I'll say this - we beat them on the boards, kept TO's respectable. Shot well at the line. We just need better inside shooting - won't win many games @ 37% field goal

Big 12 teams finish 2-2 today.

KU and Iowa St win; Baylor and Houston lose.

Big12Fan2024

Teams who have played 2 games so far

Rutgers 0-2
Creighton 0-2
Syracuse 0-2
Notre Dame 1-1
St. John's 1-1
Baylor 1-1
Houston 1-1
Tennessee 2-0
Iowa St. 2-0
KU 2-0

Now it looks like Michigan is in the Final since it's based on point differential and they clocked Auburn. Kansas and Tennessee appear to be playing for 3rd. And if Gonzaga continues it's lead in the 2nd half they will be Michigan's opponent in the final.

This. I'm not discouraged. We just need to work on finishing inside because the opportunities were there. And we need to get better from 3-point range, which falls primarily on Agbim.

If Skillings plays a decent game, that one stays closer a lot longer. But we couldn't afford a no-show from him in Yessefou's first game against a really athletic opponent.

We've got plenty to work on. But effort, hustle and toughness aren't on that list. This would have been a 30-point loss for any of the last three Baylor teams.

Welp, obviously a lot of work still left to do for this team. Can ANYBODY on this team make a basket within 3 feet of the rim? For pete's sake. And I know it's really early, but I'm sorry, I just don't see "lottery pick" in Yessoufou. I'm not sure I even see a first rounder at this point. But I know they go by potential, so maybe they see something I'm not. Fortunately for him, I'm not a talent evaluator. And thanks, liberals, for continuing to force women into the men's game. The female voice is just wrong for men's sports. Please stop pushing your pathetic utopian, woke vision onto this country and wussifying it any further. Leave this generation alone, you've done enough damage.

St John's looks really good. Deep run potential. At least that's what I'm telling myself to sleep better tonight....!

But I think the last couple of iterations of this team would have gotten smoked in this game rom start to finish. Like the Gonzaga game last year. Still excited at the potential for this year's squad.
