LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Baylor men’s basketball (4-1) will conclude the Players Era Festival against the San Diego State Aztecs (3-2) on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 9:30 p.m. CT, at Michelob Ultra Arena. The game will be televised on TruTV.

Public Service Announcement: Don't drive yourself crazy. a) Drew does not have a history of reigning (sp?) in any of his 4-5 star freshmen particularly with such a thin bench; b) Yessoufou's shot selection is not likely to change much since he has always been relied on to be a scorer and it takes awhile for some freshmen to shed that and realize they may not be needed as much to score because they're surrounded by better players than when in HS.

He had four fouls. And fouled out pretty quickly upon re-entering unfortunately.

He got called for some chippy fouls tonight. I never got a good feel for this crew's whistle.

What a testament to Drew and his staff!!!!

I love how generally controlled our veteran players are. Yessefou and Carr are chained lightning sometimes, but Obi is so steady, and Rataj, Skillings and Williams are all calming forces, too. We never seem to panic the way some of our teams in the recent past have.

I was highly impressed watching Rataj closely as he appeared to be leading them throughout the game yelling from near the top of the post and telling guys where to go. I feel he's had a coming out party in this tournament, which should speak well for our future.

I agree. I think he may end up being more of a Swiss Army knife like Jeremy Sochan for this team than the bulk scorer I originally thought he'd be, but he's going to impact games in lots of different ways.

I've been really impressed by his skill level and general command of the game the past three or four games. He's a smart basketball player.

One really cool thing is that our two primary ball-handlers, Agbim and Williams, have nine combined turnovers in six games -- and that's in a lot of minutes, too.

Yessefou, Carr and Rataj all handle the ball, too, and they turn it over a little more, but when your two main guards are taking care of the ball the way Obi and Isaac are, you're generally going to be in pretty good shape on the offensive end.

Really good use of time outs by CSD throughout the 2nd half on this one. He used a few timeouts at unusually early times to give his guys more rest during the last 10 minutes.

Imagine him after another Summer of S&C and shot mechanics work……he and the three redshirts are a solid starting point for next year's roster.

Williams' play has been a revelation. I was expecting a developmental guy, the 4th or 5th guy off the bench. He is a starting PG already. Someone in the portal is gonna PAY this man. Hopefully we can pay enough to match and keep him.

He's just really raw. Much moreso than our last few one-and-done guys. He's plays really hard, but he just doesn't have a very refined offensive skill set.


He's shown some pretty impressive flashes. He's had some really tough finishes in the paint. He's just raw. We need to get healthy again so we can get back to using strategic benchings to rein in his game.

Yessafou will be a challenge for CSD to manage. Most of the time his shots are within the flow of the offense, he is just not a good offensive player whatsover. He will occacionally show very poor shot selection and is a turnover machine. Those 2 aspects of his game can be managed in the short term. However he needs a few years to even be an average offensive player. I am afraid he will drop to the 2nd round and the NBA will chew him up and spit him out before he has a chance to develop.

The game really turned on the Powell challenge. The challenge took way too long, which favored us. Followed by a timeout. Then another media timeout shortly after that. By the time the Aztecs got the ship righted it was ballgame.

Also ironically, the only other Power team that had a complete reset, Indiana, is 6-0 and just throttled K-State.
