WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis first match of the ITA National Indoor Championship will be on Friday, Feb. 13 at 3:30 pm in the Hawkins Indoor Tennis center where the No. 19 Bears will be playing against No. 9 University of Central Florida. The tournament will continue through Sunday Feb. 15.  

The Bears (5-1) are on fire after a huge upset against Texas A&M where the singles players led the team to victory in a 4-1 decision. With the upset, BU was picked as the No. 5 seed entering the ITA Indoor Championship. 

No. 106 Zsombor Velcz won the first point for the team, and was followed closely by Luc Koeing, No. 41 Connor Van Schalkwyk, and No. 99 Alexandru Chirita to secure the four points for the Bears.  

No. 9 UCF (8-0) is coming off their eighth straight win after their match against the University of Miami and was selected as the No. 4 seed.  

The Knights swept their opponent, securing the doubles point and beating the Canes in two sets across the board in singles.  

The winner of the Friday match will play the winner of the Wake Forest vs. UC Santa Barbara match at 3:30 pm CT on Saturday, Feb. 14. 

Also participating in this tournament are LSU, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas, UC Santa Barbara and Wake Forest. Fans looking to purchase tickets can find them here.
