Isaac Williams IV Staying in Waco: Baylor Guard Signs 2-Year Deal After Late-Season Surge
Baylor men’s basketball sophomore point guard Isaac Williams IV has signed a two-year deal to finish his collegiate career in Waco, per his social media.
Williams IV averaged 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists this season across 24.9 minutes per game, while shooting 56.6% from the field and 48.9% from deep on limited attempts.
After starting the year as Baylor’s backup point guard, Williams IV became a fixture in the team’s starting lineup in early February and ended the season on a tear, scoring in double-figures in seven of Baylor’s last nine games.
His best game of the season came in a narrow loss to No. 2 Arizona, where Williams IV scored 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting and dished out eight assists without a turnover.
As a freshman at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Williams IV averaged 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The Oklahoma City native played with former Bear, Ja’Kobe Walter, on Trae Young’s AAU team.
Head coach Scott Drew had to completely retool Baylor’s roster last year, and retaining Williams IV, who was being heavily pursued by other programs, is a key piece to the puzzle for next season’s roster.
