The Lady Bears Coast Past Northwestern State

The Lady Bears started off their season with a 3-game series sweep against Northwestern State.

Baylor played a great overall game in the season and series opener winning 8-0. Gia Rodini stole the show with a no-hitter where she struck out 11. Shelby Friudenberg drove in three runs in the win.

In game two the bats stayed hot for the Bears but Northwestern State started to create some runs. Regan Green pitched 6.0 innings, sticking out five, but gave up three earned runs. Regan and the Lady Bears ended up getting the win 8-4 thanks to three RBIs from both Shelby Friudenberg and Goose McGlaun.

Game three was another excellent pitching effort from the Lady Bears as they won 4-1 in the finale. Goose McGlaun pitched 7.0 innings while only giving up 4 hits and one earned run. Baylor scored 3 runs in the third thanks to RBIs from Jesse Scroggins and Shelby Friudenberg.

MVP of the Series: Shelby Friudenberg

She had her bat all over this three game series finishing 4-of-8 at the plate and 7 RBIs in the three-game series.

Pitcher of the Series: Gia Rodini

Gia started the season off about as well as you possibly can by throwing a no-hitter and striking out 11. She also had to come in for relief duty in game 2 where she struck out three more in 1.0 of work. She ended the series with 6.0 innings pitched, 14 strikeouts while only giving up one hit.

Underrated Player of the Series: Goose McGlaun

Goose was the winning pitcher in game three as she threw 7.0 innings while only giving up one run,  but she also had a great series at the plate as she went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs.

The Lady Bears head to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to participate in the Black and Gold Invitational this weekend. First game is Friday vs. McNeese State at 4P.M.
