I am really excited for this game! I think it will be fun to see for a lot of reasons. Even before the season started and the injuries to Trinity, KW and Chou, with what we were losing and the limited depth I really thought sweet 16 maybe a ceiling. I felt like we would still be a top ten team no problem but I was not convinced we were top 4. Now with the injuries we should be in serious trouble but it just seems this team has something special. I do think our starting 5 right now is playing as well as any team in the Country including UCONN. If we continue to play at the level we have been and avoid foul trouble and additional injuries we should pull away and win comfortably by the end of the game. I think we have a legitimate shot at the final four and I never would have thought we could get there this year before the season started.
I do have concerns about the game because OSU is very good and if they play out of their minds like some others have against us in the tournament before, then we could lose. I am intrigued by our team because we have five who can score and do score when they need to do so. I just don't remember having this many legitimate weapons to score before. Juicy and Morris are so fast and such good scorers and shooters....they also create pressure on opposing teams ball handlers. Cox and Brown already get so much attention and rightfully so, they are dominate. DC is just so determined and when she hits her mid range shot lethal.
OSU will either zone or help on Brown and Cox and make our guards beat them. We need to hit threes but we also need transition buckets and the mid range game as well, to open things up for Brown and Cox. I have some concerns that their guards are bigger than ours and will close out well on three point shooters giving us fits. They may also try and take our guards inside to score. We have to turn them over as they do not have a true point guard/ball handler and that is when they had their worst loss to UCLA when they turned it over and could not handle the pressure of UCLA's guards.
No matter what happens tonight it has been a real joy to watch this team compete game to game. I hope our depth issues don't bite us in the butt for the first time tonight. The outlook for next year is just incredible....
Go Lady Bears!
Yes the formatting didn't delete them for some reason. Sorry about that.LOTRADER said:
