Baylor adds impact transfer Macio Teague

Baylor landed a commitment from UNC Asheville guard Macio Teague early on Monday afternoon. Teague will sit out the 2018-2019 season before playing his final two years for the BEars from 2019-2020.

Teague committed to the Bears over interest from Louisville and others.

In two seasons with the Bulldogs, Teague averaged 15.4 points as a freshman and 16.7 points as a sophomore while shooting over 43 percent from three-point range. Teague also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his junior campaign.

Teague is Baylor's second transfer to add this offseason. He joins Auburn guard transfer Davion Mitchell who will sit out the upcoming season before playing his final three seasons for the Bears.

Nice addition for 2019-2020, but it continues to appear that Drew is more and more depending on transfers to fill holes. Would prefer to see him loading up on top end freshmen like at one time he did.

Guard is his deficiency. Drew has taken forwards out of high school and put them in the league or Europe.

Not too sure about this upcoming season but we are looking really good for 19-20! I saw this guy play a couple of times on TV and he was really good in all phases of the game. It will be a step up in competition but I believe he has the skills to be great. Plus, he's a guard with good size, something we don't always have. Great pickup by Drew and staff.

He apparently already competed against Kansas, and I bet being from Asheville he has probably played against one or more of the big ACC schools.

Ashley, what happened to that recruit that was supposed to be immediately eligible? You noted that ther would be one transfer (Mitchell I presume) and one who would be immediately eligible about one week before Mitchell made his announcement. Is there still something pending?

we have filled 12 scholarships and have one to fill. I would expect a guy that can play this year.

Teague and Mitchell were the two highest priorities after missing on Tyler Harris and I think the Bears came out better when you consider offense/defense. 5-8 guards are tough to hide on defense.

What happened to his sophomore year? The article mentions his numbers his freshman year and then jumps straight to his junior season stats.

Colt was getting something up quick. He meant to say sophomore for junior year. It is corrected. He has to sit and then 2 years of eligibility after the transfer season.

Should be a power backcourt for 2 years with Mitchell and Teague and one of those years Darius Allen as well. Hopefully will add a stud freshman guard in the 2019 class.

Seems Macio is a really big addition! Can't wait to watch this young man play. He had a lot of good options and chooses to be a Bear! And that tweet was awesome! Think he's a great fit with Baylor and Coach Drew
