Baylor turns in another dominating defensive performance to bury New Orleans 84-44 as they get ready for conference play Saturday at TCU.
Positives
- The Bears held another opponent under 50 points and played stifling defense. New Orleans ended up with only 0.62 points per possession (anything under 1 is good). The Bears blocked 12 shots and got 14 steals. Elite defense since the second half of the Wichita State game.
- Mario Kegler looked really good in the first half. He made great basketball decisions, rebounded well and made some shots.
- Jared Butler continues to improve each game. 16 points and 6 assists from the freshman PG. We seem to be better offensively when he is on the floor.
- Tristan Clark continues to give steady results. 17 points; 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. He is now 80% in the paint. He’s among the nation’s leaders in offensive efficiency, offensive rebounding efficiency, blocked shots and effective field goal percentage.
- Three point shooting 10-25. Big improvement.
Needs Work
- Mark Vital’s free throw shooting. He’s now under 40% for the year. Went 0-4 tonight.
- Sloppy turnovers to start each half. Need to clean that up against better competition where there is no margin of error.
